S/K are Only technical. They do one element after another, but they are rewarded high PCS. It only happens to Russian pairs. I wonder why?

I would have to disagree, there was a lot of choreography and transitions, and there flow and speed, and the expression that matches the dynamic of the music,

Congratulations! I happened to do perfectly as well - a small consolation after bombing CoR and betting against almost everyone on Yulia.

I got lucky with Yulia. I was so sure she was going to get 3rd place before the competition, but yesterday morning after watching her practice (and wasting all my phone's credits doing so) I switched her with Wagner. I hope I do well in Ice Dance as well, but I'm hopeless about Men.

I agree Sui/Han should get higher PCS, but I don't think Stoblova/Klimov should get much lower PCS.

I don't know. I liked both performances and it would have been great for Sui/Han's score to be higher....I guess compromise everyone at 135?1

I feel like S/K skate today was weaker than at CoR. Less amotional and maybe a little slower. But overall they were best today. And their LP is one of my favourite this season.
Well deserved win :)

S/K's lp is so plain and flat that you can't remember anything after watching it. How could a forgettable program get so high PCS?

To be true, S/K don't even have the great technical content as other top pairs. Their throw and twist are weak. They barely have any transitions. But the PCS never reflects that.

S/H are robbed!!! They have higher BV, better execution, more transitions and gave two outstanding performances. Yet they are low-balled in PCS and lose to the uninspiring S/K. It just screams politics and scandal.

I feel for you :) Seriously.

This techno music for the medal ceremony will be the bane of my existence.

I feel like the English cut of Les Notre Dame des Paris last week at RC fit together better emotionally... I wonder if the different music cut affected Stolbova and Klimov's performance.

I think so. I really liked English version better.

Very good afternoon of pairs skating. Stolbova & Klimov had another great skate. Everything they do is clean. Their body lines are so defined. Love the program. Sui & Han are very exciting to watch but if they could have a bit more finesse it would be even better and certainly would help them in the PCS. Wang & Wang are so cute and have a certain lightness in their skating that is beautiful to watch. Kudos for Moore-Towers & Marinaro, James & Ciprés and Scimeca & Knierim.

Love Stolbova/Klimov switching out the English version for the French for TEB

And I was going to make a joke about them finding a Spanish version for the GPF until I saw this tweet:

Lynn Rutherford ‏@LynnRutherford
Stolbova & Klimov used English lyrics of “Notre Dame de Paris” at CoR, French at #TEB2014 , searching for Spanish version for @gpfbarcelona

:laugh2:

Thank you for put my posts together. If you can't argue any one of them, that means I have a point.

Plenty of other people have argued why Stolbova/Klimov merited the higher PCS.

I'll take a stab at it. For me, I liked their extroverted, big skating. Yes, perhaps they need to work on getting the levels, but every element is completed and executed well. They had really good speed and power across the ice.

Sui/Han definitely deserved higher PCS scores, but I agree with mikiandorocks that just a little bit of finesse and power would be beneficial. I do like their transitions and the choreography overall.

Again, I think there is merits in both programs and while I would have like the margin to be much closer, it doesn't lessen what I think were two strong and worthy performances on the part of S/K.

I loved this pairs event and I am just loving the pairs discipline in general this year  So many exciting young teams (quite a lot of them with big age gaps and surprisingly work) and older teams with exquisite programs, it's just a joy to watch!

Looooved Stolbova/Klimov today. Appreciate the change to French lyrics. And as for the program, for me it actually worked better than last time somehow.

Technically, Sui/Han were marvelous today, but I think I enjoyed Wang/Wang more. They look so light and beautiful and well-matched on the ice. This event confirmed to me that between Peng/Zhang, Sui/Han, Wang/Wang and Yu/Jin the pairs event at the Chinese nationals is going to be really interesting. I'm gonna be so sorry for the pair that doesn't get through to Worlds... And the situation in Russia is even worse, especially if Volosozhar/Trankov come back, so many of my favourites won't go to Worlds  Oh well, I guess the competition is good for the sport. Better to see many great pairs than none :)

For the first time, I'm way more excited about the pairs discipline than ladies. Both the veteran and young teams are looking great and there are different styles for everyone: big skating, lyrical skating, sassy skating etc. I'd be gutted if any of Wang/Wang, Yu/Jin and Astakhova/Rogonov don't get the chance to go to Worlds. W/W and A/R are two faily new teams but the guys are already 26 and the ladies only 16-17 so I don't know how long they're going to stay together .

Let's do this. First of all, S/K's Sp is a sham. Eastern music and theme is rare. When you do it, show some respect and make an effort. D/W made a name with their Bollywood OD. That's how you do it. S/K's Sp is a half-assed product and for that it really didn't deserve the PCS. Now the lp, even the S/K's fans admit that they are slower and flatter here than COR. How can that be called a strong and worthy performance?

Figure skating programs are a whole package, not just the technical elements. Do S/K really relate their moves to the music? Or they are just posing dramatically from time to time? How can the interpretation score be so high when they didn't even skate to the music? Do they have lots of creative transitions to justify their TR score? These are all valid questions.
