:rolleye:

No one can believe that an American pair deserves decent PCS even though they've clearly polished their skating and improved their choreo since last season. They came in 4th in the LP, not 2nd, and they had the cleanest SP overall. Plus a gorgeous quad twist which adds difficulty.

Congrats to Sui/Han! They are my absolute favorite pair, my favorite since S/S retired. That Samson and Delilah is just going to get better and better. I love their connection on the ice.

 ok at least the winner is rightful. The rest...

 I don't get fussed about 'inflation' as long as the placements seem about right, but it really really bothers me when the placements seem clearly wrong.

OMG who's that translator Tatinana, isn't she Russian? Amazing she can speak Mandarin.
German  and my first reaction was "how many languages does that woman speak for heaven's sake???" Answer: quite a few

and I clearly know nothing about pairs scoring because wth  silver with that? ok then.......

At leaset Sui/Han's win is totally deserving!

Tatiana's Mandarin is quite good.

Yes I am STUNNED by her Mandarin- EXTREMELY impressive that she is fluent in Russian, Mandarin, AND English- very different languages, all with different alphabets, and with a lot of other things on her plate too! Astounding, good for her.

Agreed. I can't wait to see Sui/Han perform their FP sans errors. I still can't believe how much they have matured. Congratulations also to their coach Hongbo Zhao.

It wasn't that "subpar". A fall on a big element (like Sui/Han) and a step-out.
The rest was very good including 3T-3T-2T.
The american S/K kind of bombed IMO

I'll have to watch, but S/K didn't bomb according to the protocols - 2 falls and a completed quad shouldn't be considered 'bombing'. They had 3 elements total w/ negative GOE (Not sure what happened w/ the -1 on the Throw 3sal but it didn't sound egregious - Again, I will watch on youtube). The rest received positive GOE.

They've made improvements over the past year in their basic skating. Very happy for them

Quick question:

I see sometime people don't do a landing position but still get + GOE,
Like S\K In the end of their combination they go to 2 feet right away,
Is this like an acceptable jump end position?

To clarify: Scimeca and Knierim were 4th in the free skate. They ended up 2nd overall because they had by far the best short program. and I think many of you are being a bit harsh about Alexa and Chris. They have great speed, flow, and much improved line and extension. They have chemistry. They messed up 2 jumps badly, but the rest of the program was crisp, clean, and well-performed. and their quad twist is spectacular.

Was never a fan of Sui/Han when they were younger...too cutesy for me but thank God hey have grown. Loving them now. I might be the only one from the US not rooting for Alexa and her faces.

Wow, I can't believe the Americans grabbed silver here after that skate. It was an absolute mess. Think it was a new PB for them too? smh.

I hear you WWG, but to be honest, for many of us irrespective of country, ...it was a hot mess! Yes, their SP saved them but then again, I thought that program was perhaps a bit overscored. The thing for me is that every year I hear the same song which leaves me with a lack of appreciation for their creativity. Yes, they have a quad twist but beyond that there is not much else. They struggle with jumps, spins and timing. The quad twist does not carry me for the rest of the program and the robotic performance are, ho hum. And can Chris ever look at her during performance? For a couple who are a couple off the ice, I feel no connection whatsoever.

Aside...the DEAN SCREAM in the KnC has got to go!

I agree with all of this and I'm American. I'm not super partisan in terms of skaters in general though (most of my current favorites are Russian) so maybe I'm not a representative American

I totally agree. I often thought this team was overrated in the past — just cute kids with tricks — but they've really grown into a great team. This year looks like a new level for them.
