Tbh I think B/S, C/B, and H/D all need 1-2 pts less in PCS in comparison to the top 3. They're on a tier below a slightly flawed P/C and perfect Shibs.

Tessa and Scott got a perfect +3s for the No touching StSq

Shibsibs missed the second key point and thus a Level 3

And really? Gabby and Guillaume? Level 2 on Partial steps?

Papadakis/Cizeron being interviewed by French TV. The journalist asked them what they think about the doping scandal in Russia :scratch2:

I think that was pretty fairly marked, wasn't it?

I think the difficulty for P/C is that as fun as that SD is the jerky movements (which are very lindy hop) can sometimes look like they are bumbling around and if the judges aren't giving them the benefit of the doubt... Although C mistake was in the first part and pretty obvious to me.

I like all of these SD's except for the first part of C/B and the last part of H/D. But I think it will be a big advantage to C/B and S/B to have FDs that are so different.

Gotta go to pairs.

The Shibs performed with much more punch this time than their prior outings. I used to find that ponytail hold lame, especially when Maia lacked the playfulness, but not this time.

I like how P/C is being challenged and they can only become better athletes thanks to this amazingly competitive era of ice dance. After all, this sport is much much more creative, diverse, transparent, balanced and fair ;) than some subjective sports (ahem rhythmic gymnastics).

It might be only me but I don't think the Russians should have a top 8 team, let alone a top 6 one . C/L, G/P, W/P should all be above B/S.

A well deserved lead for V/M, they were the class of the field.

Shibs over marked in 2nd. Don't like hip hop and it does not suit them. Not sure was he was dressed for but it was not a hip hop dance. I don't think it is worth a 3+ PB.

P/C over marked but I think I would have them 2nd. Never seen him stumble before, skating directly after V/M made it even harder for them.

B/S liked it, they were marked fairly. The routine has grown on me over the season but also possibly the fact it was followed by two hip hop 'events' made it look better

H/D hated it. I have a headache from all the music cuts. The judges loved, a big PB for them

C/B don't like the dance but the judges showed them no love. Should they be worried? They definitely seem to have lost US No. 1 rank.

It's amazing to me that you have this information readily to hand...

D/S did get their world title in the end in 2008 (which I had to wiki for the date).

P/B had my favourite FD of the Olympic year in 2014.

i remember cause i remember how i felt like it's hopelless for a french team to be on olympic podium cause there is can usa and russian team. and even when the top teams made mistakes, no matter what things were written and nothing moved. when P/C appear and won in 2014 i was so happy like suddenly things weren't written anymore.
i also felt bad for tessa and scott cause i didn''t understand why the judge always favoured D/W like at worlds 2013!!! for me it was a shame that V/M didn't win that year. and no true fight for olympic gold. every ice dance fan knew the olympic podium and even the top 6 before OG happened.

Uhm, why do I feel that I'm the only one that feels that the young American teams are the only ones that actually took the Blues/Hip hop requirement literally....

Cuts and sampling are one of the things that characterizes Hip hop.....critiquing it seems to me to be like criticising skaters for actually using Spanish music when that was the required pattern...

But I get that it's a challenging dance pattern, and the global acceptance and understanding of it clearly has a way to go to make really going for it not a risk....

Hmmm it is interesting interpretation. Sampling is characterizing Hip hop.;)
Okay, let me clarify what I didn't appreciate in their program.

Per the TSL interview, they seem to create a dance collage in a chronological order. I am not knowledgeable enough which piece represents which period. But I heard that was their design intent.

But, the dance itself does not reflect the specific dance move that depicts the period or the music. It could work in a long program with longer minute to explore different eras. But in SP they could not even depict one period of dance convincingly enough.

I guess they were ambitious and bite more than they can chew.

Shibs get high SS scores lately, no wonder their PCS has risen. And wow, V/M got some 10s!

It's not just you. Personally, I would have preferred CL or G/P here over them.
