evgenia medvedeva.....do not understand how she scored so high. I don't like the music either. Her sp step sequence was incredibly slow and lacking in deep edges and energy. All her jumps look so strained. She lacks the leg strength, everything she does now looks so strained....am I the only one seeing this???

Mao Asada.....man, I love her, but why does she keep attempting the triple axel when it's so inconsistent? Why doesn't she just go for a triple triple?

Gracie....as much as I do not like her skating, I thought she did a good job landing all her jumps

Ashley....great performance.

Elena Radionova.....gosh, I watched her program muted. Her music makes me cringe.

Alain Chartrand....love her sp program, but why can't she land her jumps? Should would be right up there in the podium if she would just land those jumps. Is it mental for her?

Yuzuur Hanyu.....will probably win this competition if he doesn't fall terribly in the lp

Boyang Jin....is growing on me, however, his landing are still a little shaky

Maia and Alex Shibutani.....did a great job with their sd dance, but I would have put Madison and Evan ahead of them. Evan does such a wonderful job presenting madison.

Overall, no one's programs really stuck out to me in Boston. I wasn't blown away by anyone's performance.

I haven't had the chance to watch the ladies yet - thanks NBC/ISU let's schedule events in the middle of the day so people in the US can't watch - but in regards to her looking energy and strained jumps, I point to that interview Lipnitskaia did about the questionable way that Eteri's group handles the physical training of their skaters

I feel like ever since Mao started with the 3A she's determined that it's her move and she's gonna do it every time she competes. Sometimes it almost seems like she'd rather lose with 3A than win with a clean triple-triple

What's with all the SB's - I'm watching Ice Dance and it seems like every routine is a 'Season's Best' score - what is this nationals?

Hello Amei :) I watched all the performances on youtube, lol. Maybe Julia did a good thing by switching coaches. I read that her other former pupil Aidian left her too. Maybe you are right about the way she physically prepares them. Now that I think about it, Julia gradually couldn't hold onto her landings, even her step sequences were lacking in flow and deep edges, but slightly better than Evgenias, which in my opinion, is very poor basic skating skills.

I love Mao ever since she came onto the scene. It's just hard to see her mess up on her triple axel time and time again as a long time fan :) She's such a beautiful skater, lovely flow, and edges, beautiful arms and dancer.

Ice dance....I would have put Chock and Bates ahead of Shibs. And what happenend to Weaver and Poje? They were winning everything. Is it because V/M announced their return, LOL :) I bet that's exactly what happened. The French pair Cizeron and Papadakis does nothing for me emotionally, but they do have great flow.

I agree with you on all of these, except I think Gracie was overscored. I do not think she should have got a score of 76, I would have given her a 74. Her jumps are great, but I don't think the performance was quite there.

I completely agree with you. Her performance is just not there for me yet. In fact, I just watched Anna Pogorilaya's program and was blown away. I would have put Anna ahead of Gracie, in the 80s mark since they gave Gracie a 76, lol :) But good job for the American ladies holding their own.

I really enjoyed Anna's program, very edgy, great music. It was the first time I'd seen it.

+2 in components for Gracie since GP final??? Are you kidding me??? Totally overscored!!!

-0,5 for Evgenia??? OK, Ok... Medvedeva is the most elegant skater I've ever seen. Her skating is a pure art, super natural, artistically great, no fake "latina" "rumba" etc passion and emotions. All lines are clean. She is a ballet dancer on the ice.

The results of the men tonight have me absolutely giddy! If Javier can overtake Yuzuru and his commanding lead, then Mao can medal. I'm SO ready for the free skate!!!!

Yes, Mao can always medal. One ratified triple axel (even with 0 GOE) and even a 3F-3Lo< and that should be enough to be in the top 3 for FS. I have a feeling she may get silver.

I'm also hoping that the judging is fair and accurate. I.e., there were several ladies who did not receive carats during the season who deserved them...and others who did not deserve them (like Mirai at NHK) who got carats. That's questionable. Others were just as underrotated.

I wish all the ladies well and that they deliver their best performances tomorrow.

It's more exciting that way.

Medvedeva is all knees to me and lacks the flexibility she needs to complete the Sasha curl/spiral adequately. People see what they want to see. Baiul was a ballerina on ice, if there ever was one.

Ballet is not just about flexibility. If anything it's more about isolating parts of the body and keeping other core parts still. In that sense, Medvedeva's movements remind me of the basics of ballet. She has a very unique style. Her movements are angular and very isolating, not just arms but legs also.

Ballet and Figure Skating are quite different in principle actually and goes back to the basics about knees and turnouts.

People who embody ballet in figure skating are more performers who have adapted that dance form into the performance aspect of figure skating like Baiul yes. I don't think there are any true ballet dancers on ice. They're just too different. But yeah, I like Medvedeva because of that isolation and angularity she achieves in her movements. It's nice.

Obviously ballet isn't all about flexibility and I didn't say it was why she isn't a ballet dancer.
But yeah, she can move parts of her body in an isolated and robotic way...like how Sotnikova did in her Rondo and Cap. program.

WORLDS 2016! CONCLUSIONS

This was one of the BEST World Championships I've ever witnessed!!! The quality of skating offered in all the sections was just AMAZING!
The podiums in all the disciplines are the right ones !! And the ladies tonight were SUPERB!!!
Thanks to all the Athletes/Artists for the Great Showing!
I can just hope, for the future, that this Championship in Boston/USA will boost Figure Skating over the world, becoming once more popular, especially in USA !

I thought Pogorilaya had won gold after that free skate. I would have switched the order to Pogorilaya, Medvedeva, then Wagner.

I am glad Ashley's super duper hard work finally paid off. But damn it Gracie. I can see her winning olympic medal but I can also see her "just not in the cards for her". I don't think Ashley's silver boosts US skating too much. She's charismatic on the ice but she doesn't have Gracie's it-factor and she didn't win. Russians do absolutely nothing for me, they're good but bleh.
