I think the twizzles were a bit off in the second set (not sure, am still occupied by GP thoughts and drowsy thanks to persisting cold), but I liked this team. Not top-notch stuff, but still.

The Browns are second in TES and only 4th overall? Nobody told me I woke up to a nightmare!

Really, why doesn't the ISJ be honest and rename PCS JMF: Judges' Manipulation Fiddling. I for one would have a lot more respect for them if they 'fessed up to that.

They didnt skate tango pattern that well tho Ukranians skated it better and they are behind them in TES!

Emma GUNTER / Caleb WEIN
Country: United States of America
Music: Argentine Tango: Peligro by Gotan Project / Samba: The Beat Goes On by Sonny Bono
Choreography by: Elena Novak, Alexei Kiliakov, Natalia Skorikova
Costumes:She in trad red and black tango dress with fringe; he in trad black with red shirt

Required Elements:

Some nice sharp tango steps into
AT Pattern - She's upped that all important Face Factor. She must have read what I said last time. :) It does make a difference. More No's than Yes's but it was better.
Rotational lift - good speed in and out with smooth transitions IN the lift. Level 4 and well done and right into
Twizzles - a little out of sync but not bad. Very good coverage. Level 4 for her, 2 for him. He had some balance checks in there.
Midline St Seq - MUCH improved from last time. Level 3.

She put the oomph in. And the dance was MUCH improved for it. Now they just need polish polish polish.

Score: 54.30

Ahead of the Browns :(
I just want Oona and Gage to do well, my ice dance baby team

ETA: they have the highest TES, and are behind in PCS, which I don't understand because dang does Oona perform well

I didn't watch them (just got here in time for Gunter/Wein), but they're very little, so they may be lacking in speed and power, which would bring the PCS down some.

Her top knot looks like it has to hurt.

Rather lovely and well done. No doubt first place. Her dress is nice. His pants are.. different.

Wow the second Russian team just hit it out of the park!

That was amazing, such speed and they got all the KPs!

I need to wake up for the ladies, but for what I saw U/N was great as expected. That lift!

Arina USHAKOVA / Maxim NEKRASOV
Country: Russia
Music: Tango: Libertango by Astor Piazzolla, performed by Bond; Flamenco: Flamenco by Valeri Dolgin
Choreography by: Natalia Yanovskaia, Elena Maslennikova
Costumes: She's in a black dress with shredded skirt, red neck trim. Arty, random holes. Very high head bun--is it a radio tower or something? He's doing the onesie thing but without the manclevage. Daring!

Required Elements:

A very Grand Entrance onto the ice.
Some really sharp in place tango moves to start. Really sets a good tone. It makes a statement: We're not fooling around.
AT Pattern - Nice head flicks to start us off. They do have wonderful glide in the turns. Got all the KPs. Wow.
Diag Step Seq - Level 3 with high GOEs. And I wanna see it again.
Twizzles - very very fast rotations. Level 4 for both.
Rotational Lift - level 4 with flip entrance and smooth transitions in the lift.

Going for the big sliding ending.

They scored big big big at Kaunas with this, deservedly so. It's really more flamenco with some tango thrown in. But it was really a first rate way of doing that.

Score: 69.18 and a SB

U/N get by far the best RD scores of the season. Anybody hoping to catch them in the Final is going to have to up their game by 4 points.

Re U&N: It is maybe the choppy stepping and bent knees for that angular look that makes one think flamenco more than tango. I expect matched lines and huge extension, ala Usova and Zhulin for tango.

I adore S/N, but K/R is not fooling around here, and at this rate they're going to go to Vancouver.
