So I'm late to the men's, but does anyone know what happened to the field here? There were a whole bunch of guys, from a number of countries signed up initially, but it dwindled to just the three Canadian skaters. The other disciplines have good international fields, so what happened to the men?

So I'm late to the men's, but does anyone know what happened to the field here? There were a whole bunch of guys, from a number of countries signed up initially, but it dwindled to just the three Canadian skaters. The other disciplines have good international fields, so what happened to the men?

They were right on the bubble of number of countries needed when the first entry list was published.

Then the Latvians pulled out for unknown reasons so the men's event was downgraded. Other international competitors presumably then decided there was no point in going if it wasn't a Challenger and also pulled out.
