Not necessarily. When Evgenia and Liza had their skate off for 2019 Worlds, neither of them had competed in the Russian Cup events that season. That was kind of a unique circumstance, but I'm pretty sure GP skaters who did only one (or none) have competed in the Cup final before. I guess it's up to the Fed.

I don't know about the official regulations (and knowing RusFed they are interpreting regulations just the way it suits them anyway), but skaters get wild cards to the Cup of Russia Final all the time. Just of the top of my head, Erokhov in 2018/19 and 2019/20 (without attending a single other competition that season), Davis/Smolkin in 2020/21. I guess there are many other examples if you go back in time. Mozalev should definitely be able to compete at CoRF if he wants to, especially if a Worlds spot becomes vacant.

A quick search even suggests that members of the National Team may always participate in the Final if they choose to. The number of athletes also doesn't really seem to be limited, checking back to the 2016/17 season, I've found everything from 7 to 18 participants.

Unless they are going to Junior Worlds, i expect them to (JWC is kinda close).

I hope Mozalev will compete in Saransk. That will echo me watching Golden Spin with more emotions than GPF, lol.

No. JunNats end on Jan 22, Cup Final starts on Feb 23rd. So, no overlap at all. It’s JWC that starts on March 7th that is a bit close to when Cup ends (28th) and Juniors always skate last so…

You're talking like there ever can be enough figure skating. As someone who watched Ice Star live yeah, the principle of 'Mozalev skates, me watch', applies.

We already have a schedule for training and competition! RusFed outdid themselves. Maybe we'll even get the entry list one day early this time around?
Bad news is that the fields seem rather small, just 12 men and 12 women, 8 pairs, and 10 dancers in both seniors and juniors.

Okay, I can see them letting everyone in the Olympic and World/JWC teams already to just prepare for these competitions, but I would have expected a lot of entries in Junior men… in a way, it signals that the teams are all set, and for once they are not doing skate offs at the 11th hour. Depending on who is skating, it still can be a very sweet competition, 2xGP stage is size, very manageable. Maybe even Russians are finally exhausted from this ahem… nice season.

I really wonder whether the junior men who competed at the senior stages (like Dikidzhi, Yablokov, Anisimov, Kovalev) will skate in the junior final because of JWC selection. I guess they will have to, since tech content especially in the SP is so different and it would be difficult to compare scores between the junior and senior divisions. But that also means that juniors will be very crowded and some skaters who placed well in the junior cup stages might not make it into the final.

I don't understand why they make the entry lists such a secret. Like most people wouldn't even care with the Olympics and what not going on at the moment. Does at least an official table with the final standings exist anywhere? Otherwise I'll need to dig up my old Excel file again, though I think I never did one for juniors.

Gosh, I am pretty sure the standings were posted for men and women... but, like, Russian nats minus intl teams?

Not sure what they are achieving with secrecy, but I guess, it's just a part of the Russian Cup charm. Hang in there, I will try to search...
