Well, Semion skated at the Cup of Russia stage in Sochi just this week (he won the bronze medal too!). He must have gone straight to Kazakhstan from Sochi, what a busy week for him.

Did you see my post in the British & Irish thread this morning?

You remember how we were so in awe of Elena Komova doing 4 programmes in 2 days at the Budapest Trophy a couple of weeks ago. Well, I had forgotten that a couple of years ago, Elizabeth Golding had done 5 programmes in 4 days! (An SP on the Monday; an FS on the Tuesday; 2 SP's on the Wednesday; and an FS on the Thursday). And it would have been 6 programmes in 4 days if she had not withdrawn from the Senior competition after the SP. Probably a wise decision.

The stamina of these kids never ceases to amaze me.

I mightn't be the biggest Elvis fan in the world, but in a strange way, that worked.

But, the shirt!

It's a good job @elektra blue isn't here, because she'd be getting her lava lamp out again. Because that shirt is even more like a lava lamp than Varvara Kisel's FS dress! (I still say that dress is more like flows of lava).

He takes the lead. But, not by much.

The scores for Junior Mern won't count for minimum TES . Both Technical Controller and Assistant Technical Specialist are Russians. The requirement is having the technical panel members from different ISU members.
Strange choice as the organizers have on site enough people to compose a valid panel (just like they did in all other disciplines).

How on Earth did they manage to make that bluder?! Especially when it was so easy to avoid.

Not sure what to make of that version of "Moonlight Sonata" that Artur SMAGULOV (KAZ) used. It's a pretty impactful piece anyway, without being given the epic treatment.

It's big music, but unfortunately the skating did not match it.

He goes into last place. But, is only a point behind Jegor MARTSENKO (EST)

Been a long time since I've seen this music being skated to. And I would love to see it skated to more.

But, I don't think it's a piece for Singles skaters. Everybody knows the story of that music. It should be skated by a Pairs partnership. Or an Ice Dance parnership. Not by somebody on their own.

That said, he did a great job. And, I would put him in the lead.

I know I'm biased when it comes to rock programmes. But, that was skated so well.

Sorry, Semion, but your lead is going to be short-lived. Little Rocker is going to take it now.

EDIT: Not quite. But, it is very close. Into 2nd, barely half a point behind the leader. And barely half a point ahead of 3rd place.​

You know, I was just going to look up his past results to see what competitions he had been this season, because I could have sworn that I had seen that costume very recently. But, if he missed the Junior GP's, then it must just remind me of somebody else's costume.

Anyway, that was an impressive skate, even for somebody who is fully fit. But, for somebody who is only coming back from injury?!

WHAT?! They're going to the resurfacing and not announcing his results until later?!

Ah, the announcer immediately clarified things, saying it will be in a few minutes.

No, I haven't been watching any of the Russian domestic competitions. There are more than enough international competitions to keep up with!

It took a while to get there but, as predicted, he takes the lead. And by a big margin.
