Well, I'm tired and might nap. Oddly the only program I'm really excited to see in Dance is Reed/Ambrulevicus's (I mean I love P/C's Elegie but I also know what it is, you know?) so not sure if I'll get up for the whole thing live or just come back in for Men.

I'm baffled why they had Anna goes for the 4Lz here today. I can't remember seeing video of her landing one in practice and the ice quality here doesn't look great.
is it my memory just that bad? because i'm remembering an entire season of her landing it in competition

I think this is one of the better programs Anna has had, she sells the second half really well but I wish the music cut wasn't so sudden. I'm not sure I agree with 150+ for that (I often don't understand the GOE she gets) but the result is probably about right, given Wakaba's deficit from the SP.

I...do not think this is one of the better programs Alena has had, but that bad fall on the 3A probably took a lot out of her. That was in the same spot at Anna's lutz attempt, right? It really seems like ice quality has an impact here.

Prerotation is allowed within a certain degree. Toe and sal should have up to 180 degrees, with up to 270 being in the "not great techinique but OK" range and anything more than 270 being bad and prerotated Flip and lutz are the same except with 90 and 180 degrees, with 90 or less being allowed, 90-180 being poor technique but OK, and anything more than 180 prerotated. Prerotation is typically docked in GOE, not BV unless it's really obvious. Anna's quad is certainly poor technqiue and deserves lower GOE, but I don't see why it wouldn't be ratified.

That's what I figured

But I thought maybe they see something I don't

Like with the leg position or something

If I had to guess, Anna probably picked in on soft ice and it either shattered or just didn't grip and she fell. She might've been slower and more cautios on her spins to avoid mistakes on those as well, or was maybe just shaken from the fall. She's a fighter, that's for sure

Was watching on and off because of ...life. But not bad LP overall and nice that Mariah would up in 4th in the LP and 6th overall with Karen equaling Alysa's best Gp result.

Watched on Peacock, not good, multiple soundtracks playing, not synched to live picture, for entire FS.

Peacock has been totally fine and consistent for me (except for when my wifi got moody in between Alena and Anna). I think a lot depends on your internet connection.

She was hitting it in practice 2 days ago, there are clips in the Russian ladies thread.

A fluke error probably caused by the ice quality, there have been pictures of puddles of water. If a skater gets injured due to the ice quality they should sue the pants off the ISU and hosting Fed. This is the third GP event that we've seen pictures and commentary about ice issues. I'm going to preach this all season- the ISU has to get some standards for ice quality and levy fines on hosting Feds for not meeting those standards. IDF ice is a constant problem instead of the ISU threatening to pull their GP - they give them Worlds as well.

Wonder if Russian coaches train their skaters for all ice condition eventualities or if their skaters have optimum ice conditions always…. “OK! Today skaters we skate on water!!”
