1. I can't believe it's finally the week of competition!!!!! It'll be nice to hear Ted Barton's voice again (I don't know if we'll be hearing it).
2. Why is Russia not competing?

France has COVID 19 restrictions in place that would require 14 day(?) quarantine for persons coming from Russia.

I don't know the exact reasons, but I don't think it's that critical; country requirements are the reason. Posters have been asked to discuss COVID in only general terms and only as related to skater availability, so as not to have conversations go off topic.

I don't want the conversation to go off topic but you're right, it's not that critical. It's because the EU has 4 approved vaccines: Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. So it's most likely a combo of the Russian skaters being too young to be vaccinated (so would probably have to quarantine) or being vaccinated with Sputnik or another non-EMA approved vaccine. So it's just about country requirements.

Russia is on the red-flagged list. It doesn't matter if their athletes have the approved vaccines or not.
ISU approves such segregation policies by allowing France to host the events.
Obviously it is just a matter of time when other EU countries (alongside with US and Canada) impose the same restrictions for the athletes.

No. If you are Russian, you still has to undergo 7 days long quarantine in France even if you are vaccinated by Pfizer etc.

Yes, Bart is there! :love2:

I can´t believe it´s already starting this week. Just tried to read the timetable, and if I understood it correctly, junior ladies SP will start at 3 pm (15.00 CEST) on Thursday?

Well, that´s just perfect, that´s when I get off at work. It looks like I will be able to see everything live from the ladies and men, SP and FS!

Thank you AlexRus for collating those ISU / non-ISU best scores and an attempted ranking of skaters. I appreciate this but we should remember that some of those ISU scores are 2 years old! Going out on a limb, I predict some of those juniors will receive a PB this week :).

Is it going to be available to watch on the ISU YouTube channel. Or are there going to be restrictions for certain countries. I'm in the UK.

It's so weird seeing such a small number for men and women. At least the judges won't need tons of coffee. Also, when are the event threads going to come up?

Hey, long time no see.

IT’S JGP TIME.

Best of luck to all competitors.

Also, the reason there are no Russian skaters is that there are lengthy quarantine requirements for Russians entering France.
