The 2021 LuMi Dance Trophy is an international ice dance competition for novice, junior, and seniors, and is held in memory of Ludmila Mikhailovskaya. The event is scheduled to take place at the Palace of Sport in Odessa, Ukraine, Feb 10-13, 2021.

Wow. First time since November that I've watched any figure skating LIVE.

The 2021 Ludmila Mikhailovskaya Dance Trophy is about to start with Basic Novice Pattern Dance 1.

This Pattern Dance segment is becoming like the old Compulsory Dances. Although there are actually different pieces of music being used for the programmes, they all sound the same!

And it's not just the effect of the sound problems on the stream!

OK, the second Warm-Up has started to get weird. Three of the partnerships are doing a full run-though of their routine side by side! It's like a miniature Synchronised skating team!

Well, at least the choices of music that the partnerships used for the Tango Canasta sounded different to each other than what was used for the Fourteenstep earlier.

As there was no break between the 2 Basic Novice segments, there was no opportunity to do anything about the sound problems. But, now that we have a 40 minute break until the Intermediate Novice Pattern Dances start, I hope they work on it.

Each of the remaining segments of the day consists of only one group of skaters, so I think I will stick it out.

My ears are hurting from the male version of Britney Spears' "Oops I Did It Again" that Semenova / Karchur started off their FD with. And then they followed it up with Tom Jones' "Sex Bomb".

No. Just, no!

I don't know if they used that second song because they are Plushenko fans, but kids that young should not be going anywhere near songs with lyrics like that.

The skating was very good, though. More than made up for the music they used.

Wow! My kids are growing up very fast!

Absolutely beautiful black dress with silver linings for Angelina. Ilia, just an off-white shirt and black trousers.

Ilia very nearly slipped and fell on the very last note of the music! But, thankfully, he stayed upright. (I think Angelina held him up!)

Totally different class to what we have seen so far. Will take the lead easily.

EDIT: They did take the lead, but it wasn't by as much as I expected. Just the 9 points ahead of the Ukrainian partnership that kicked things off. Still a new absolute PB score for the Short, though! (2.15 points more than their previous PB from the Ice Star in October)

I know that some people have got fed up with "La La Land" programmes, but that was novel from Bondar / Koval. An instrumental version of "City Of Stars". And I liked it. It was almost disappointing when this was followed up by the normal version of "Another Day of Sun".

Lika seemed to be tiring towards the end.

Ouch. I knew it wasn't their best, but I wasn't expecting them to go into 4th, barely 1 point off last position.

The partnership that I was expecting to be the ones fighting with Angelina and Ilia for the win have a LOT of work to do in the Free.

So, we have a very tight bottom 3 covered by just 1.39 points. Then a 7.56 gap to Pinchuk / Pogorielov in 2nd, and then an 8.77 gap to Kudriavtseva / Karankevich in the lead.

I wonder if we will have any shocks in the Seniors at quarter past the hour...
