Same with William to Bill by the way

The only one that i somehow get is Bob/Bobby (Robert).
And American can use their nicknames for competitions (eg: Alexandra "Sasha" Cohen / Grace "Gracie" Gold). I don't jnow if skaters from other countries can do the same.

Russians nicknames are another story. And i'm sometimes confused in Russian competitions threads when i see so many Sasha and Zhenya.
