Last time I saw him was WTT in April. I read someone's tweet that he was giving standing O to Kaori's Matrix in French team's box.

Do you know if skaters are being paid by ISU for their gala performance?

Skaters who medal are required to participate in the gala. If they don't, there is some kind of penalty which is automatically deducated from their prize money. Those who placed 4th place and lower but are invited to participate are paid a small amount. I think it's something like $100? $200?
