Skaters who medal are required to participate in the gala. If they don't, there is some kind of penalty. Those who placed 4th place and lower but are invited to participate are paid a small amount. I think it's something like $100? $200?

Damn, really? Is it in their contract? I think they can still WD citing injury, but wonder how strict ISU is with that.

See page 9, #14 -- it explains about prize money, exhibition, etc. (I was having trouble copying and pasting - sorry) Looks like if you win a prize and fail to participate in the gala, they deduct $3,000 from your prize money.

I haven't watched any of the competitions from the NHK yet (in fact, I haven't watched anything from any of the Senior GP's yet! ), and I don't want to see any spoilers. So, I'm afraid I won't.

Ove the past couple of months, I have been concentrating on the bikes and the Senior B's. But, with the MotoGP finishing today, and World Superbikes finishing next week, I should be able to start catching up on the Senior GP's soon.
