unpopular opinion : i don't mind M|G's programs : they are filled with interesting choreo... i don't care that the music is dull.. at least it's not Roxannnnnne or something hideous

Even more unpopular opinion: I'd rather hear Roxanne (as long as it's that dreadful female singing version) than have to sit through one more POTO program.

Well, definitely the high points of the night for me were two of my favorite pairs ... Mishina/Galliamov and Cain-Gribble/Leduc.

I am a little miffed that Miku/Miura's FS scores were higher than Ashley and Tim's. But it's a point of practice for me not to let what the judges do affect how I feel.

And those were two absolutely gorgeous skates. Ashley and Tim's skating in that W.E. program is just splendid. Such ferocious passion for their music and for their vision of skating.

And Mishina/Galliamov were close to perfect, but with more to work for. I'm not a particular fan of their music, but when you put them after T/M, it's easy to see that it was a wise choice after all. They look more like a classical pairs team with it, and that's all to the good!

I'm probably in the minority but I like M/G's free this season (but then I also liked B/K's Everlasting Star of Happiness SP or whatever it was called, and that was apparently unpopular enough for them to change the music before Worlds)
I like M/G's music more every time they skate. They're doing something good and showing a different side of their skating with it.

I liked B/K's Everlasting Star too. But I remember her saying they wanted music that was light and happy. And Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorite movies and music, so I loved it. What I remember is how happy Sasha looked skating to it. :)

I loved the Howl's Moving Castle program too! Honestly I would not be opposed to them bringing it back because their Swan Lake is a miss IMO.

Sorry for forgetting to do a placeholder reminder post for the Pairs FS before going to bed last night. All the drama from the Ice Challenge made me completely forget about the NHK.

I know it is pretty much pointless doing a reminder post now, but I will. That way, when I come back to watch the segment, I can just go to my post and find all the links in one place.

Here is the link for the ISU livestream on the ISU YouTube Channel:

Here is the link for the World Feed coverage on the Eurosport Player:

Here is the Time Schedule:

And here is the live scoring:

Hope this helps

Mishina/Galliamov's program and skate were good, but the music doesn't do much for them. At least it's not a warhorse. Their twist looked a little smaller today, as did their second throw. But their scoring potential is so high that they don't have to be at their absolute best to get a gigantic score. T/M made too many mistakes to keep up with their consistency here.

Tarasova/Morozov have been doing a great job this season holding it together after a mistake, but today it looked like they got a little rattled and became tentative on the throws after the botched jump combo. After seeing so many smaller/safe throws in this competition though, I appreciate the explosiveness and quality of T/M's throws even when they aren't firing on all cylinders. The SBS 3S was one of the best ones they've done. It's very difficult to give amazing performances all season long and some of their skates will be better than others. I wouldn't have given them Savchenko's Lighthouse music.

Miura/Kihara's "Woman" music is a little underwhelming. That is not a program I would have chosen to recycle. They've had similar skates to this one in the past (a double jump, shaky throw, etc), yet they are scoring much higher these days. The scoring of this event was pretty lax. But they did plenty to get themselves to the GP Final I think. I find them so endearing; they are still in that "we are happy to be here and surprised we are doing so well" mode.

Cain/LeDuc's score truly didn't make sense, but that was one of the nicest 3S combos they've done; the best element of their LP. They were fighting through the rest of the skate. I've never seen a pair fall on a throw and receive that many -4s. Ashley was more that a quarter turn short on her 3Lo and had to hold onto it, but didn't receive an underrotation. It's flabbergasting and a big shift from her getting URs and q's at virtually every competition. I've watched and paused the replay multiple times wondering if I'm going insane, but she clearly UR'ed, right in front of the judging panel. The call wouldn't have changed the results, but it's frustrating as a viewer when something so obvious gets ignored (not just for them, any skater who URs). Their throw 3Lz got a couple +2s when her chest was completely pitched forward, so they really benefited from some lax scoring here. They're very comfortable with this W.E. program, although W.E. is so generic and overdone at this point that I wish they had a new program especially since choreo is one of their strengths.

Lu/Mitrofanov skated solidly but the pair elements are so small and careful that their clean skate isn't translating into much in the way of points. The smaller the elements, the easier to skate clean. But in the past they have very rough skates on the GP, so this was much better for them. Oddly, I thought she looked more mature in the SP skating to Survivor than in a more traditional program like this.

Hase/Seegert and Walsh/Michaud just didn't look comfortable here. And why were there only 7 pairs? The Austrians withdrew a while ago, but they must not have been required to fill the spot.

They're currently in a 3-week quarantine... the math just doesn't add up.

Are Sui/Han not allowed to skate for 3 weeks? I really hope they don't have to miss the Final. They're finally healthy enough to compete a full season.

Maybe I missed it but what happened to the old warhorse Carmen. I don't hear this music this olympic season. Seems almost sacriligous. Scandalous. Outrageous. Oh well,...there is always some pop ballad to take the opera's place.

Oh no... but I assume this is precautionary. They are so much the faves. I feel for T and M but ET isn't doing it. IF they are not adding difficulty then they need to work on being clean and projecting and chemistry or faking chemistry. Maybe ET can hypnotize them or perhaps they can practice with the stable of top ladies/girls and up the ante/content. I wonder even if they can break down their elements adn highlight them better with even fake emotion and better costumes to create a mood, a moment.
