Any word on Gabby Daleman? Can't she her going much longer. I know she is only 24 but is there any chance she will make it back to top form. And it is so depressing to know what she was capable of and to watch her falter time after time now.

She has been posting training videos on instagram so I’m assuming she is planning to compete this season.

Good to know - and I would assume she will be assigned to Skate Canada. There are not too many other choices and she would be ranked # 2 in CAN now.

Carolina Moscheni (Italian ice dancer with Francesco Fioretti) has announced her retirement from competition.

In her statement, she says "as we decided to put a closure to our competitive career" so I'm guessing Francesco is retiring too, but I've seen no statement from him yet.

I'll miss this team, they'd been making good progress over the last couple of seasons. Good luck to both of them in the future!

Seems like Ice Dance get a little bit like Pairs as well. I feel like season 22/23 will be testing season for so many teams.

Ice dance has new pairs forming and high profile juniors graduating into seniors. Pairs is basically done as a discipline on both junior and senior level. I have no idea who they are even putting into GP

they are putting pairs into GP so it keeps rebuilding. Yes, without the Russians and with the many retirements, it's not going to be the deepest field, but new stars will shine. It always happen after Olympics... this time, the situation is more intense than in some years... fair enough, but there is new talent out there... The junior pairs medalist from JWC are just as promising than the ice dance medalist... Actually, junior ice dance Bruce and Nathalie retired... while the junior pairs are continuing..

Junior pairs medallists were the Georgians, who were already in seniors. So, no net gain of a pair. I seriously don’t understand who is going to be in 6 stages. They will have to have some stages without pairs 🤷‍♀️ Unless they make them skate 3 GPs each

you know, back in the old days, some skaters were allowed to skate in 3 events but only 2 were counting towards GPF. (I would need help to detail when and how this happened) So why not?

My comparison with juniors and seniors : (yes the georgians were already senior BUT we do gain one extra pair since they finished top ten now.. so 2 georgian pairs at worlds...) was more along the line that maybe the browns will move up but the bruce and nathalie have retired (bruce is still doing singles, no idea if he plans on continuing dance later on) and Bashynska Beaumont are staying juniors... while the junior pairs, at least two of them from the podium for sure are moving up... so it was a clarification of your previous post that seemed to paint a brighter ice dance picture than pairs from that perspective (new influx into the senior ranks)... when it's the opposite. In the current circumstances, ice dance juniors do not have much incentive on moving up... and if they do, they will not appear at worlds... and are not really guaranteed 2 GPs at all... while the top junior pairs have all the incentive to move up

I don’t think there is a shortage of IDs, even if some of them continue in juniors and new partnerships are being formed. In pairs, not really. Yes, it’s still in GP rules that people can skate 3 events, with only 2 counting. But that’s really stretching it thin. Come on.

I actually think it would be a great thing since so many new pairs haven't had a lot of outings with the top being so crowded in the pre-olympic year... Considering a team like Trennt and Evelyn is now probably seeded??? I mean.. yup... they should get 3 and get more experience. Why not? I am just trying to reduce the amount of panic ... I have a love/hate relationship with this thread... 1) it's necessary and keeps us informed... but it also leads to some heartbreaks and some panic... I cannot help with the heartbreaks :) but with the panic, I feel that by saying out loud, though it may be an unpopular opinion, that pairs will survive and it happens every now and then (cyclical) that it may alleviate some of the panic felt by some fans... Pairs WILL be fine. :) I promise it ;) I am not saying WHEN it will be fine LOL It may take a few years, but it will be fine.

This is what I think, too. There are not enough pairs to fill the spots. They'll either need to lower the standards, or do some GP without pairs.

I wouldn’t lower the standards because low tier pairs with group B lifts are not particularly interesting to watch. I mean, that British couple always looked out of sorts.
