It's good to see Ting Cui back on the Nationals roster! She'd completely disappeared from the big skating events and I thought her injury a few years back forced her to quit. Happy to see I was mistaken!
i am too! i thought she had retired from elite and was only doing collegiate but i'm so happy she'll be at nationals again. she has so much talent.

I wonder if Lindsay had an injury at the beginning of the season. Her performances at summer comps were very consistent and in line with what she was doing last season.
I think she either grew very quickly during the summer or endured an injury. She was scoring 190s-200s and wasn’t that far off from what Isabeau was scoring in the summer… then she started scoring in the 150-170s. Hopefully she’s able to show her best result this week.

I absolutely think that Worlds spots should be based on the season each woman had. It seems that every woman had one high and several lows (excluding isabeau who is usfsa favorite and a lock for Worlds). The selection committee should take into account season performance and nationals and 4CC before announcing the team.
I mean, wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to make Nationals count and actually mean something instead of continuing to minimize its importance by having a skate-off at 4CC?

I love that Bradie and Lindsay are on an upwards trajectory… heading to Nationals. Golden Spin was a great result. I just wish there was a video.
Right? USFS should damn well post video of every competition their athletes enter. It's like they are actively trying NOT to promote the sport. It just kills me. And don't get me started on the lack of replays on Pea-crap.

I know right… I prefer actually watching these challenger events than Grand Prix. When I found out there was no live stream, I was sad and just focused on the Grand Prix finals.

The protocols to me were interesting. Bradie removed the 3F from her short program and went for a 3Lo instead. Also, she went for two 3Lo in the free skate and I’m not sure if this was done on purpose, but, no triple triple. She just went for 3Lz 2T, in both programs, which to me is a smart move because she can afford to lose points here, because her spins and everything else, are mostly levels 4. I hope she stays with this tactic for Nationals. Lindsay also went for two 3Lo’s in the free skate. That is an intelligent change.

Rooting for both Bradie and Lindsay to make it to Worlds. Bradie reminds me of Rika. Both got injured trying to keep up with the Russians after making it to the Grand Prix Finals alongside 4A. Bradie with the 3A and Rika with the 4S. Now, they are back and are not back to normal levels, but, slowly getting there.

Yup!!! As a huge fan of both Bradie and Rika last season was an especially nasty blow with the way they both went out!

And the sad thing is sometimes I wonder if it was all for naught since we'll never truly know if the people they were trying to keep up with had pharmaceutical help.

I feel awful because back then I was genuinely pleased that both Bradie and Rika were so hungry to keep up. Now I wish they hadn't!

Wow! That is exactly how I felt. I was so happy with Rika for practicing quads and when she landed the 4S at Nationals, I was so proud of her and felt that she could now challenge the Russians with the 3A and 4S combo… then, Bradie mentioned she also learned the 3A from Mishin, and I thought she would be competitive with the Russians, as well. I was proud of both of them for learning new jumps later on in their career. It showed me that it was possible, and it was just a matter of pushing hard. Then, when they were injured and the Olympic doping scandal happened, and they weren’t at the Olympics, I regretted how we lost these two athletes. With Russia banned, the Worlds Champs in 2022 occurred and they just needed normal triples just to win a medal. It was painful watching it without these two. Now, they are both back with 190+ scores at their most recent events. I’m rooting for them both to comeback. They may not qualify for Worlds this year. But, slow and steady progress for next year will make me happy. I’m just happy to see them both back at competitions, at the same time.

i hope at this point they see it's not worth chasing an unrealistic standard if they want to stay healthy.

Thrilled to see that Lindsay seems to be returning to form. Her Golden Spin win is impressive given that she left points on the table in the SP. She can get to ~ 210 possibly with two clean skates.

Curious how quickly the federation will name the Worlds team with Bradie still recovering. March is pretty distant and Bradie could make even more significant strides before then.

Will also be interesting to see if Amber’s stock has risen at all. Even though she notched the second highest score among Americans during the fall, NHK negatively counterbalanced that.

Should also be interesting to see how the fed handles Audrey since she’s now Tammy’s top prospect and Starr since historically been extended a lot of chances.

ooooooh, i never thought about that. Audrey is now tammy's top student. Will she be favorably scored? She has so many nice qualities but can she avoid the UR calls and get on the podium?

Of course, it's possible. I think US Nationals will be interesting this year because outside of Isabeau there are no favorites. Audrey, Ava, Lindsay, Bradie, Amber, and Starr all have a chance to get on the podium. I don't see anyone outside of Isabeau having much a of a body of work argument. But, I guess Audrey does have the federation's favorite coach in her court. To me, that's the advantage she has over others because Lindsay, Amber, and Bradie definitely have higher ceilings than she does.
