There is one Chinese senior man on the list and one Chinese junior man as well. But... isn't it the same name? Is it possible to take part both in junior and senior competition during the same event?

There’s nothing stopping a skater from taking part in both events as long as they’re age eligible, but obviously it’s not highly recommended because it’ll take a lot of stamina. Both Douglas Gerber and Elena Komova have done it this season/last season. Yudong needs both his Junior SP TES mins and Senior FS TES mins, so it’s well worth it if he can manage it.

Xuantong LI / Xinkang WANG
just did it at Santa Claus Cup as well. Maybe it's a Chinese thing this season. Btw they did really well and got their minimums. So that should be motivation for him.

We're probably seeing more Chinese skaters do seniors and juniors this season because China didn't send anyone but the top seniors out to skate last season (and not even those were sent to Worlds) and they're being cautious in sending skaters to multiple events even this season, so it's best to make the most of it if you are allowed to travel to a competition. Especially if you are age-eligible for both and don't have all the necessary minimums in either.

It's not like there's tons of competition for the spots either. If you have the minimums, there's a decent chance you could go to 4CC or even Worlds in addition to Jr Worlds.

Sofia Frank won gold in Senior Ladies! I am so proud!
I'm very happy for her. I was hoping she would get the technical minimum for Worlds, but maybe she can make it next year. There's still 4CC, so I guess if she can pull off a triple-triple in the SP there and go clean in both programs, there's still a chance.

I mentioned her recently in another thread when I was asking about the "daughter" terminology that people use here. Apparently, it relates to creating fan fest threads and you already adopted her back in August, but maybe you'll let me be godfather to your child?

Oh the adoption thing is funny:). You don't have to make a fan thread. If you go to the competition threads you will often see me post Papers! I file papers! (which refers to adoption papers). Fortunately I don't have to pay for all their training. I always wonder what if their real parents comes on here and see me talking about my child and it's really their child. Anyway, most certainly you may be godfather. I actually know her parents, the whole family is lovely (and by "know" I mean we talked at a comp, follow each other on IG and exchange messages, not that they are inviting me to dinner). Anyway here is her short from Asian Open, it's the best I've seen her skate it this year.

I became a fan when I saw her for the first time at the US Classic. I remember thinking that if she had landed her jumps, her SP would have been my favorite one of the day. It's joyful and fun and a nice change of pace from the melancholy tone of most skating programs. I can't say I've met her or her family, but I've seen an interview with her, and she seemed like a nice, likable kid. I'm rooting for her to continue improving - hopefully, we'll get to see her in the Olympics in 2026.

Apparently, her mom does have an account here. Though it looks like she created it just to ask about the interview link and doesn't come here anymore.
