We have reached the final day of the EDU Sport Trophy, and this morning is all about the Recreational competitions. And because there are so many, it is a VERY early start for me. I will be having my breakfast during the resurfacings, because the alternative would have been having it at 5am, which is is too early.
We start with a group containing skaters competing in 4 different competitions. B1 Basic Ladies has 3 entries, but the other competitions just have 1 entry each.
Livestream for the first batch of Recreational competitions is now on air.
My goodness, the camera we were on fell during the Warm-Up for the C Basic Ladies competitions!
There was a big crashing noise, and the next thing we knew we were looking at the roof!
Thankfully, there didn't seem to be any damage done to camera or operator. The camera was quickly put back into position and everything carried on as if nothing had happened.
Now that we have had the first resurfacing of the day, it is time for the remaining D Basic Ladies competitions. 6 D2 Basic girls followed by 4 D3 Basic girls
As the resurfacing was still on when I caught up, I decided to start into my breakfast. So, I will pause the stream now, and play catch-up after I finish my cereal. Hopefully I will be caught up again with the LIVE coverage by the end of the next resurfacing.
Livestream for the remaining Recreational D competitions is now on air.
Taking us up to the second resurfacing is a group that contains skaters from a total of FIVE competitions. There are two Recreational E Basic Ladies competitions (2 girls followed by 6 girls); two Recreational F Basic competitions (1 boy followed by 2 girls); and an Adult B Basic competition (1 girl).
Livestream for the next batch of competitions is now on air.
And that resurfacing marked the end of the Basic competitions. For the rest of the morning we are into the Advanced competitions. We start with a boy, but after that it is all girls.
And I'm still a few minutes behind.
First up is a group containing 1 Recreational D Advanced boy, and 6 Recreational D1 Advanced girls.
Livestream for the first two Recreational D Advanced competitions is now on air.
And to finish the morning action, we have another group that contains skaters from a total of FIVE competitions. There are two Recreational D Advanced competitions (1 girl followed by 2 girls); a Recreational E Advanced competition (2 girls); a Recreational F Advanced competition (2 girls); and an Adult A Advanced competition (1 girl).
Livestream for the next batch of competitions is now on air.
Speaking of music I would love to see skated to more often, Elisabeth Marie FISCHER-DIESKAU (ROU) started her programme to the "Chariots Of Fire" music by Vangelis. But then it turned into something else. A pop song that I didn't know.
I recognised the voice, but couldn't place who it was. And because I couldn't make out the words due to the echoes in the arena, I couldn't look up the lyrics to find out what the song was.
Anyway, she went on to win the Recreational D3 Advanced competition. (The other girl in the competition did a "Pink Panther" programme).
My goodness, that was close in the Recreational F Advanced competition. The field consisted of 2 Emirati girls, and they finished up being separated by only 0.51 points!
Mind you, they both had multiple falls (2 for the winner; 3 for the runner-up). So, neither of them will be too happy.
It's now Sunday afternoon, which means that it is time to finish up the Junior categories, and then the Senior categories. In each case, boys first then girls.
I'm eating my Sunday dinner at the moment, so will be playing catch-up. But, I hope to be caught up by the time we reach end of the first resurfacing (and if not, then definitely by the time we reach the Seniors).
Just finished the boys and, as expected, it was an Israeli clean sweep of the podium. But, they were not in the same order as yesterday; there was a swap between 2nd and 3rd positions. Two falls for Tamir KUPERMAN meant that he dropped a place behind Iakov POGREBINSKII, who only had one fall.
Leader from the SP Nikita SHEIKO went clean again today, and won the FS by 25.58 points! This meant that he won overall by 40.08 points!
Talk about domination!
It'll be interesting to see if team-mate Mariia DMITRIEVA can do something similar now in the Junior Ladies. She has a 11.58 point lead going into the FS.
