Some people are going to rack up a lot of World Standings points.

I lose track of exactly what that means, but I recall that it's important. I know that this is kind of the B Team from Canada and USA, but I've enjoyed these teams before, and I wish them luck!
So do I...still nice teams to watch. And good luck always!

In theory, this poor panel doesn't meet the requirements for an ISU Championship. I guess they struggled to find two ISU technical specialists.

Is it true that the judges, tech panel, etc right up to the head of the ISU are honorary positions where yes they get a nice hotel and food and flights, pin money, etc but no actual cash?

In ISU Championships, technical panel, referees and judges get hotel room and meals paid by organizers. ISU pay for their travel expenses.

In Grand Prixs, ISU pay the travel expenses of technical panel and referee while organizers pay the travel expenses of judges. Organizers pay hotel and meal for all of them.

I can't remember who pays what in Challenger Series.

In other international competitions, technical panel and referees get travel+hotel+meals paid by organizers. Organizers have to pay hotel+meal for judges but not the travel expenses (usually their Federations cover for them).

The cash payments recieved are

a) Senior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events and Final and World Team Trophy
CHF 300 (paid by organizers) per event or Final for all Officials

b) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events:
CHF 200 (paid by organizers) per event and Final for all Officials

c) ISU Figure Skating Championships: The OC must pay to the Officials, the following remuneration for ISU Championships:
Technical Specialists and Technical Controllers receive a gross amount of CHF 350.00
Data and Replay Operators a gross amount of CHF 300.00
Referees, Judges and OAC Members in Single & Pair Skating and Ice Dance gross amount CHF 300.00

Challenger Series events: same amount of JGPs

For B events: nothing.

The hotel may not be necessarily particularly nice. You can see in the "announcements" of each competition which is the official hotel. In B events, it is often a standard hotel.

From the Dancers, we move to the Pairs. And by sheer coincidence, it is starting just after the Junior Pairs at the Bavarian Open has finished.

And now, I am off to have my dinner.

Livestream for the Pairs SP is now on air.
