No, it's a matter of abilities changing quickly at that level (up and down as growth spurts happen or stabilization and new jumps get "gotten"), so suddenly people improve/decline over the summer and if it were totally on Nationals, USFS would lose out on good skaters getting international assignments

Some of it is related to summer comps (this summer) and people who are on the list of "to be watched" and scores. So, I guess, I'd say "it depends"
So he can easily score well at some summer comps and get assigned correct?

I was surprised to see that Will Annis did not hold on and win here. Hopefully he'll skate even better at Junior Worlds.
