I read elsewhere that Ziegler withdrew to allow more time to recover from an injury before 4CC. After seeing the women’s competition, a question arises in my mind: would Thorngren have been wise to do the same? Adam and Ashley stated, repeatedly, that Thorngren was recovering from an injury and hadn’t had enough practice time going into Nationals. As a result, she finished 7th overall. Would Ziegler have had similar issues? Would extra recovery time have helped Thorngren? It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
It's a shame that they had to announce the 4CC team before Nationals. If they went by Nationals results, Starr Andrews would have gone to 4CC and not Lindsay.

It's really a shame that USN and 4CC were scheduled so close together. Ava would have competed and could have won a National title (or she could have bombed and placed 8th behind Lindsay). And Amber would have had time to digest her emotional win and not have to fly across the world to compete days later. I don't expect Amber to be on her game this coming week, nor should we. All around this was bad scheduling.

Nah it's time to move on from Starr and let these younger girls compete. That is the only way they can get better.

Amber WD from 4CC, so we don't need to worry about that. i agree with her decision and it makes much more sense to go home, rest, and train for worlds.

i do think Starr's time has come and gone and she has reached her potential as a skater. i love her as much as the next person, but Jammers is right- it's well past time USFS invests in their up and coming women who have the ability to score/place higher and need the international experience.

i really enjoyed Elyce Lynn-Gracey and Josephine Lee this past weekend! Elyce reminds me so much of Karen and we are starting to see the potential Josephine has and the contender she is becoming. Had Amber completely bombed, she would have won the title. also enjoyed Sarah Everhardt, although she has a lot of work to do in her second mark she was so impressive with her jumps and consistency. she really came out of nowhere, i had never heard her name before. i hope they all continue to improve!

I'd almost be tempted to put Ava on the World team and have Isabeau stay home she showed in a stacked field at 4CC she can skate under pressure and not collapse even if she did skate a little tight. Ava actually has good jump technique and Isabeau looks like she's losing her jumps.

I suggested that it would be a good idea to wait until after 4CC to name the team... but that didn't go over well.

I bet the decision has been made as to who will be the first alternate.

Edit, just looked at the protocols, and Ava's free skate was ranked second by four of the nine judges. That's even more impressive, I think. She's doing something right.

Watched Junior World's SP live today. I was impressed by Sherry. She really needs to learn how to skate a clean SP but her jumps, spins, and basic skating are really impressive. She looked like the best jumper on the ice in the warmup and her SS looked right in par with the Japanese skaters in her group.

Wasn't impressed by Josephine. She needs to work on her SS and her jumps weren't rotated in practice or during the program. She's still young so she has time.
