I couldn’t find any info about the tickets either so I decided to do a Google search for what Google Translate says is Mandarin for “Shanghai Trophy figure skating”. shtrophy.com showed up in the results and I realised that the Chinese version of that site is up to date but not the English version… I figured out that I needed to go to the 久事体育APP on WeChat to buy tickets, and there’s no English translation there either. Again with the help of Google I managed to get to the ticket checkout page, but it seems that it will only accept Chinese mobile numbers. I’m not sure if I can just put a friend’s number there. Does anyone know how to buy tickets if you don’t have a Chinese mobile number? :(

I hope you buy tickets with email. As a foreigner, it is hard to get info or buy tickets in this case. Please update when you buy tickets as I will go to Shanghai next January to see 4cc 2034.

Hopefully buying 4CC tickets will be easier for foreigners because it's a big event. I went to Cup of China in 2019 and it was a lot easier. There was an English website and you didn't need a Chinese mobile number. The only thing is paying by card was a bit weird. If I remember correctly, you had to email them a photo of your card. I didn't really feel like doing that so I asked a friend in China to pay via WeChat for me.

You are soo lucky to have a friend in China. Is there any chance to buy tickets in directly in China? I will be arrive there in official practice day. Please follow up this when you go to Shanghai trophy next month.

I just called them yesterday unfortunately for Shanghai Trophy all tickets can only be purchased online via their App 久事体育 or WeChat. No box office sale at the game. Hope they will realize this problem at 4CC and provide some easy way to buy tickets for foregin fans.

Thanks for checking!

I ended up getting a Chinese mobile number and finally managed to buy tickets for Shanghai Trophy. It turns out that China Mobile has a subsidiary in my country and you can get a Chinese number that forwards to a local sim card. China Mobile has branches in a number of countries so that’s an option if anyone else wants to buy tickets. Activating the number forwarding service supposedly takes up to 5 business days but I asked them to speed it up and it was done within a day. It’s a bit of a hassle but oh well.

As for 4CC, they will probably create an English website for the tickets. I guess they didn’t bother for Shanghai Trophy because it’s a small event. They did it for the Shanghai Masters which I guess is a bigger event. As for having to pay via WeChat or Alipay, foreigners can link their bank cards now to pay commercial accounts so that shouldn't be a problem.

It would likely lead to the columns not being the same width (which is not ideal), but what about having 2 tables with the Free table being in a either a Spoiler Box or a Hidden Box?

Here's a mock-up using a Spoiler Box (with the same starting order in both tables as an example):

Personally, I like the Spoiler Box, because it actually has the word "Spoiler" on the button. But, the arrow on the Hidden Box does make it more obvious that there is something to drop down. So, each has it's advantages.

Anyway, it's just a suggestion.

Spoiler Box >> Hidden Box
I can deal with two tables as long as they are in one post.
What do I do after the event is finished and I need to add in the links? Can I add the links in the box? Can the box, but not the results, be removed so all the results/links are visible? At what point should they become visible? Never, or at some point after the event.

I have pages and pages of results, I really don't want to go back and re-edit all those results to add in spoiler boxes (that could take another year). I'd like to leave those be, but invite comments.

Hm, does anyone know whether the starters who are on the list will actually be there? That seems like a very short time for some of the skaters between their last comp and this?

Before I answer your questions @labgoat, I should have mentioned, I indented the mock-ups just so that it was clearer where they started and ended! :p

And I'm stupid. I just realised there now that you could use the Hidden Box, and have the word "Spoiler" in the title! For example:

Oh, yeah, you can edit links into the box just like you can with "normal" posts.

And removing the box is easy enough. All you have to do is remove the lines of coding that specifically refer to the box (the line immediately before the Free table and the line immediately after the Free table). [You can see the lines of coding I am referring to clearer in the example above in this post].

In fact, if you want to make it into one table, all you have to do is remove the
at the end of the Short table, and the
at the start of the Free table as well. [Spaces added so that the coding doesn't work].

As for when you should remove the boxes to make the table visible, that is a tough one. Everybody will have their own opinion. The day after the event ends? A few days afterwards? When the next event starts? At the end of the season? Never?

At the end of the day, it's up to you.

Hope this helps. And as I said, it is only an idea that came into my head. You don't have to go with it.

Yes it is, but yes they are. Jun and Haein at least I’ve seen being photographed arriving in Shanghai. It’s a terrible arrangement of competitions but apparently they weren’t allowed to choose which challengers they went to, and the Shanghai Trophy appearance money just makes it very much worth it for them to push to do both. In 2019 the winners earnt $25,000, and last (6th) place still earnt $3,000
