oh these useless lists by clubs lol.. when will BC learn ?

My goodness! 😲 I see what you mean. :drama:

Mind you, I had to smile when I saw that one of the clubs has the same name as a chip shop in my hometown!

The Glengarry! 🍟

But, it got me curious about the club.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with any of skaters from the Glengarry club that are competing at this event. And when I looked at the club's website, I didn't recognise the names of any of the coaches either.

So, does anybody here know if there is anybody of interest that has come through the ranks of this club, which (according to the header on the website), has been "teaching Penticton to skate since 1953"?

I'll just add - while on the "Old Successes" page, I did see a photo from an awards ceremony with Kevin Reynolds in it. But, I think he was actually the guest of honour that was presenting the trophies.

you know, it's British Columbia... There are cities names Richmond and (New) Westminster... there are "British" names everywhere... Ontario went for bigger European names..like London or Paris ;) they even had a Berlin (now changed) and there is Amsterdam in Saskatchewan...

So you can have hours of fun if you just go through maps of Canada (and the USA is the same too)... Sometimes, they did put a "New" in front, sometimes, they didn't even bother

I don't know any skaters from the Okanagan Valley who has been a big name in the sport... but it could be just that they didn't stay there and moved to bigger clubs later. The Okanagan Valley is a beautiful region with small towns surrounding the lake. It's a micro-climate which is ideal for wine culture. Among the best wines I have tasted in my life.
