2024 CS Budapest Trophy: Info and pre-game chat

2024 Budapest Trophy is the sixth of 11 events of the 2024-25 Figure Skating Challenger Series and is scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, October 11-13, 2024.

The event will feature the single (Women and Men) and Ice Dance disciplines, and will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, Technical Rules for Ice Dance, and relevant ISU Communications.

The event will count towards ISU World Standing Points, Minimum Total Technical Score, Challenger Series in Figure Skating Ranking and Prize Money.

The Challenger Series is an International Figure Skating Series, introduced during the 2014-15 season. The series gives adequate opportunities for many skaters to compete at the international senior level and earn World Standing Points. The Series also increases the opportunity for Officials to officiate at an international level.

Some interesting names here! This is Matteo Rizzo's debut this season, right? He has a good chance of winning this, and the same goes for Lukas Britschgi. Nikita Starostin has a big chance to medal now! If he beats Samoilov from Poland, that is. Samoilov skated quite well at EC last season IIRC, but Starostin is definitely the more interesting of the two for me.

Women are also quite interesting! Best of luck to the returning Eva Lotta Kiibus, I have missed her in competitions! And to Lindsay Thorngren and Alysa Liu! And Madeline Schizas and Kimmy Repond as well! With Lorine Schild and the two Finnish ladies in the mix, it's going to be an exciting battle for medals. Is the stream paid?

Ice dance lineup is also quite impressive - Lajoie/Lagha, both top Finnish couples, Lim/Quan and Carreira/Ponomarenko... A really broad field, and unless there are WD, 2 of these top class teams won't medal O_O What a solid CS lineup, especially in the ID and women categories!

The Hun TV page talked about money already raised through the connection with Solidsport for other events, so I suspect it will not be free.

I suspect it's likely to be the same price as Lombardia was, given that it's the same type of event, length and company.

Note that this will be set to the local time zone in Hungary - I missed the early bird rate for Lombardia by about ten minutes because I forgot to factor in the time difference!

It's not reflected in the entry list yet, but is on the Skate Canada Events page and news release. It was confirmed by Robert Brodie in an update to his recent interview with them.

CS Denis Ten never publishes a colored schedule. Budapest may be going the same way

However, there is always a schedule at the bottom of the Detailed Results
.
