2024 Denis Ten Memorial is the fifth of 11 events of the 2024-25 Figure Skating Challenger Series and is scheduled to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, October 2-5, 2024.

The event will feature the single (Women and Men) and Ice Dance disciplines, and will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, Technical Rules for Ice Dance, and relevant ISU Communications.

The event will count towards ISU World Standing Points, Minimum Total Technical Score, Challenger Series in Figure Skating Ranking and Prize Money.

The Challenger Series is an International Figure Skating Series, introduced during the 2014-15 season. The series gives adequate opportunities for many skaters to compete at the international senior level and earn World Standing Points. The Series also increases the opportunity for Officials to officiate at an international level.

@elektra blue - your baby boy is on the Men's Provisional Entry List!!! :cheer:

Anyway, I have my own kids going to the Denis Ten Memorial!!! :cheer: But not necessarily the ones I was expecting.

Firstly, Angelina and Ilia are down for Ice Dance. Which is not entirely surprising. They will want to build up as much Senior level competition experience as they can before the Majors in the new year. (Same boat as Phebe and James, who are also on the list).

But Marilena's name is on the Ladies list! šŸ˜²

I'm not going to gloss over it - for a while now, I have been genuinely worried that the knee injury was worse than we thought, and that she wasn't going to be able to come back from it.

I just hope she doesn't over-exert it. Knees are awkward things.

i spent absolutely nothing at the Worlds venue... maybe a couple soft drinks ;) but I pay heavy income taxes so I am happy some of these monies go to funding elite sport and streaming ;)
The comment was made in jest, but I really did spend money on a pizza slice, some rink poutine, water, an event program, a pin, and a pair of mittens with the Worlds logo on them that I unfortunately misplaced. ā˜¹ I am not a Canadian but am more than happy to support Canadian skaters through event purchases. šŸ™‚

Women:
šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¾ Marilena Kitromilis has withdrawn

I had a feeling that it would turn out my excitement was premature.

On the one hand, as a fan, I'm obviously disappointed that we aren't going to see her. But on the other hand, as somebody who cares about her and her wellbeing, I am glad that she is being sensible and not bogging on ahead if her body isn't quite ready yet.

All the best, Marilena!

By the way, is it just me, or has anybody else got to the stage that they dread seeing new posts from @Jumping_Bean in the competition threads in the weeks running up to the event? Because it usually means that somebody has withdrawn. šŸ˜ž

;) :p

In all seriousness, we do appreciate your dedication to keeping us informed of updates   :points:.

Rewatch now has its own thread. This will be true for all challengers from now on. I will adjust the other challengers in the next few days to the same format.

I am happy for him, you and Italy!
However I am now struggling to figure out where he will be placed in my predictions:scratch2:
You might as well just pick a number out of a hat - that's as accurate as anything when we haven't seen him for over a year and have no idea of his form!

Daniel has always been inconsistent. For what it's worth, I am expecting the cocktail of nerves, excitement, and desire to achieve to be too much for a cactus - but I could be completely wrong, and he could come back with a new calmness that allows him to channel everything into two really good skates..

I hav similar problems deciding what to do with Yahli Pedersen & Benjamin Starr. I wish I could find individual video somewhere for the newer Canadians.
