2024 Nebelhorn Trophy is the fourth of 11 events of the 2024-25 Figure Skating Challenger Series and is scheduled to take place in Oberstdorf, Germany, September 19-21, 2024.

The event will feature all four figure skating disciplines (Men, Women, Ice Dance, and Pairs) and will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, Technical Rules for Ice Dance, and relevant ISU Communications.

I know it's still more than a month away, but when can we expect the entry list to be published?
(This is the first time I'll be at a competition, I'm very excited already :D)
The entry deadline is August 23rd. Usually, entry lists are made public on the Tuesday of the following week (so the 27th of August), sometimes on Monday already but definitely at the latest by Thursday.

So, is anyone definitely going? Or are you waiting for the whole lineup before you decide? :D

I suspect Sota might be sent there, so I'd like to go in that case. But, I'm quite worried about the accmommodation options. It's a tiny town IIRC, and I'm a non-driver so commuting by car or Uber from another city is out of the question for me. Does anyone have a clearer idea about accommodation in that area? I think I keep hearing it's mostly for locals because of that issue, so I'm dreading even opening Booking com... but I'll need to do it soon. That, and the frequency of train operations to Oberstdorf from the Munich main station. All in due time, now...

My bf and me are in an apartment we found on booking. I don't know about the "locals" thing...I mean, we're German, but not from the area...but also we've never been so this is basically my first experience

I am going again, like every year. I think it's already my 16th time. ^^

The last years I booked only one or two weeks before, but you have to be lucky to find something affordable.
I always book here, where you can find private pensions: https://www.oberstdorf.de/urlaubszuhause/gastgebersuche/
I booked a small apartment for myself, so if you travel alone, you can also join me if you find nothing.

Train from Munich www.bahn.de; there is a connection every hour (every second connection is with change train)

Thank you! I'll be going with a family member, so we've now booked a hotel room together, but thanks for your offer!
Yeah, the prices were something else. 😬 Unless one is willing to commute from several kilometers away. But it looks like Oberstdorf will be my only foreign holiday this year, so I went ahead with it.

Thanks for the reassurance! One-hour intervals sound great. I recall there was a thread on GS a year or so ago about the accessibility of Oberstdorf, and it was mentioned that it's not so easy to get there from the Munich airport. Fortunately, that won't be a factor for me as I'll be coming by train. But the return tickets to Munich worry me somewhat, because Sunday is the day that Oktoberfest starts 🙈
I really need JSF to confirm Sota and/or Kazuki soon, so that I can move ahead with the Munich-Oberstdorf tickets.
Olga competing there sounds fantastic as I like her a lot, and I've never seen Deniss compete live.

Before the entries are published, may I inquire about the competition tickets here? Are they on sale yet? Are seats automatically allocated, or pickable? And is Oberstdorf walkable in general? I'll be staying at the far left end of the town, whereas the rink is in the right part. I wonder if I can make it without public transport.
If all goes as planned, this will be my first Nebelhorn visit, and I'd love to hear any tips and words of travel wisdom from the more experienced :)

How about taking photos during the competition? Is that allowed? And which seats would you recommend for someone who wants to take photos?`:D

Tickets are only available directly at the stadium. It was never sold out, so don't worry about that. You can sit wherever you want, only one block is for skaters and media only.
Oberstdorf is quite small, so you can walk anywhere within 30 minutes.

You can take everything in, drinks, food and professional cameras. There is also a booth where you can buy sandwiches, donuts and drinks.
For photos, the best seats are behind the judges, but you don't see the Kiss&Cry and the filming Camera can be in the way.
The seats can be quite hard after a while, so a pillow or a blanket can be useful too.
And if you want to buy things in town, you should do it early, because some shops close already in the afternoon and supermarkets close at 8 pm.

Sounds perfect, thanks :D

Last time I checked the website, it said that tickets are available from September 1st. So if you get to Oberstdorf a few days before the competition starts, you can go to the rink and get tickets then.
