The 2024 Cup of China is the sixth and final individual event of the 2024-25 ISU Grand Prix series and is scheduled to take place November 22-24, 2024, in Chongqing, China. The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series consists of six international senior invitational events and culminates with the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December.

Competitors collect points in their individual Grand Prix events towards the qualification for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Only the top six skaters/teams in each discipline can qualify for the Final.

Skaters are seeded and invited to the six Grand Prix of Figure Skating events based on the results obtained at the 2024 ISU World Figure Skating Championships. Skaters/teams who have placed first through sixth in each of the four categories are seeded and assigned to two events. Skaters/teams who have placed seventh through 12th at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships are selected for two ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events. Skaters with a top 24 Season Best Scores (from the 2023-24 season), as well as those placed in the top 24 of the ISU World Standings, can also be invited.

In order for a skater/team to be eligible to compete at an ISU Grand Prix event, a minimum total score must have been achieved in the 2023-24 or current 2024-25 season in an ISU event (Grand Prix, Junior Grand Prix, Championships) or a Challenger Series event. Exceptions apply to host country skaters, previously ranked skaters or split ranked couples who return with new partners.

I'm particularly interested to see how Guignard and Fabbri bounce back from GPFrance.

Unlike other top teams who had a freak fall, and performed well apart from that, their entire FD looked out of whack. And CoC seems to have a particularly strong roster of dancers who could take advantage of weakness.

At least they've had a few weeks to regroup. Back-to-back GPs would have been brutal after that.

Love that colored time schedule.....Gala! Japan put on a great gala...best wishes for a good one here also....like maybe multiple Chinese pairs on the ice at once? Colorado Springs...oh so long ago......even a blind pig finds an acorn once in awhile.....

In 2007, I bought an all event pass for 4 conts, but they didnt know where to stick an old coyote, so they put me in a new seat at each event. for the pairs, they put me in the photog section...:laugh2:

The whole trip was a hoot. Got lots of candid pics of skating's great, like Ben Agusto watching practice, sway dancing with the skaters I had just gotten into figure skating events in 2002, and another in 2007. I got to the arena early for practice and no one knew what they should do with me, so they took me through the credentialing area which was interesting to the arena proper. The place was empty except for a few... I walked up to a seated seasoned distingished lady and asked if she was an ice dance fan? She chuckled in high English and said "I am Doreen Denny and I won worlds in 1960" So she sat me down and told me all about what it was like to be an ice dancer back then. She remembered my name all week when I saw her and gave me a big smile. Then, I was over in the practice rink and I thought I saw Rachel Flatt, so I took her pic from 15 yards away and she must have called security as here comes this security guard asking me who I was. I whipped out all my tickets for the event and found the practice pass and he went away...LOL!

I really hope that Shun and Mone will bring their A-game to this competition. Head says Adam/Amber are most likely to win but heart wants my Sendai kids to win their first GP titles after all!
The Sendai kids! I love it..... the thing about Mone is how she moves across the ice...the flow.....but if you watch this vid of her FS at 4CCs, and the slow mo...she has the complete package. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1HE-0onUiQ

Completely agree!
Mone is really elegant and there is something very Yuzu-like about her axels.

Shun has an amazing posture and always looks so composed and classy.
