Anaheim is not too bad of a drive for me, so I may see about going up this weekend for the juniors/seniors...hope to give updates if I do decide to go!
As far as I can see the juniors and seniors are during the week not the weekend - or am I reading this wrong? I so wanted to go too but can’t make it during the week. So annoying they still haven’t published entries either.

The schedule is a little confusing, but I THINK that the weekday ones are practice ice? (I am reading "UPI" to mean "unofficial practice ice," could be wrong.) I'm thinking that the ones that say "combined SP/FS" are the real competition, since there is only one of each...but I very well could be wrong. But if I'm not, by my reading, senior SPs are Friday and FSes are Saturday night.

EDIT:

Reread the schedule and am now at least 80% sure that the senior FSes are back to back on Saturday the 27th, starting at 5 P.M. Shorts are, I think, Friday afternoon for the men and Friday evening for the women, but northbound SoCal traffic on Friday afternoon...🥴 No thanks! :p

Yeah it was confusing! Much clearer not all the official stuff is up. Ah well, I won’t make it as I have to work Friday and Saturday morning. Hope those days go can go enjoy!

Alayna Coats - 3Lz2A2A, 3F, 3T, 3Lz (hangs on), 3Lo, 3S2T, 3S2T

Another clean free skate from Alayna after putting forth a clean short program with a 2A, 3T3T, and 3F yesterday. Alayna needs to work on her presentation and artistry but her jumps are clean and landed effortlessly. Great outing for Alayna.

Cleo Park - 3Lz2T, 3Lo, 3F, 3T, 3Lz2T, 3F2A2A, 3S

Another great skate from Cleo after a beautiful and clean short program yesterday, landing a 2A, 3Lz3T, and 3F. This program does not necessarily show her artistry as well as the short (a problem with the choreographic sequence as opposed to the step sequence) but it allows her to breathe and cleanly land the jumps. Cleo seems to be dabbling between two different layouts for the free, one with the 3Lz3T and one with the 3F2A2A so we'll see which one she opts for on the Junior Grand Prix circuit.

Mia Barghout - 3Lz3T, 3Lo1T (?), 2A, 2A, 3Lz1T (?), 2Lo, 3S

Mia has some of the most exquisite lines, artistry, and spins in the junior women field but she has consistency and rotation issues that continue to keep her from reaching and realizing her potential. I wonder if Mia ever tried pairs or has thought about it because she would make for an amazing pairs skater with the right partner. All that said, this was a great effort from Mia considering her past competitions—this is a good upward trajectory.

Ella Kim - 3Lz2T, 3Lo2A, 3F (fall), 1Lz, 3S (fall), 3S2T, 2A

Ella has beautiful, high jumps, especially on the Lutz and Loop. However, she has consistency issues and seems to slow down when she makes mistakes, which affects her timing and rotation. However, she seems to be in the building stage so hopefully as she competes more, she'll be able to add difficulty and fuel her confidence. Overall a great effort.

Anabel Wallace - 3Lz (fall), 3Lo, 3F, 3S2T2Lo, 2Lz2A (fall), 3S2T, 2A

Anabel has a great pop to her jumps, especially the Lutz which is ginormous. However, Anabel also suffers from lack of consistency which affects how the rest of her program turns out, especially when faced with falls which knocks the sails off the rest of her program. However, Anabel bounced back and finished beautifully, demonstrating grit and willpower to push through.

Teryn Kim - 3F, 3Lz2T, 3T, 3Lo (fall?), 3Lz2A2A (fall), 3F2T, 3S (hangs on)

Teryn has a nice spring on her jumps, but the artistry is still lacking. However, she has great glide and speed across the ice and seems to be in tune with the music once the jumps are over. Due to the program feeling like a jump drill rather than a flowing, whole program, you can tell that Teryn is thinking about the next jump. With some refinement, Teryn will grow into her artistry and improve her consistency.

Annika Chao - 3Lz3T, 3Lo, 3S, 2A, 3Lz2T, 3F2A2T, 3F(<< fall)

Superb skate from Annika but she will need to figure out the last Flip because she has fallen on it two (three) consecutive competitions. Apart from the last fall, Annika has such beautiful lines and presence on the ice, especially during the choreographic sequence where her artistry shines. Annika listens to the music and her limbs extenuate each note toward the audience. I'm excited to see her growth this season.

Ellie Clopp - 3Lz2A, 3F (hard fall), 1Lo, 2A, 3F1T, 3Lz1T, 2S

Ellie is a skater whose jumps are airy when landed but she struggles with consistency and artistry, often stalking her jumps which takes away from the program. This was a great effort, however, from Ellie and this will only strengthen her and push her further.

Elyce Lin-Gracey - 3Lz3T, 2A,

Elyce reminds me so much of Karen Chen because her lines, artistry, emotiveness, and carriage are all reminiscent of Karen's skating. Although the music, to Lara Fabian, is somewhat overdone, Elyce brings the necessary drama to perform it adequately. Elyce's jumps also looked rotated and she seemed to be attacking the program more. Great debut and props her well for the third Skate America spot.

Hanna Harrell - 3F (fall), 3Lz (fall), 2A

This is Hanna's return to competition and although she fell twice, it was wonderful seeing her skate. I hope she stays injury free and begins climbing up the ranks again. However, she will need to work on her jumps because they were borderline < or <<.

Logan Higase-Chen - 3Lz3T, 2A, 3F

This is Logan's third or fourth straight clean skate this summer and she looks wonderful on the ice—great speed, beautiful jumps, and improved artistry and spins. Overall, Logan is setting herself up to be the number one junior woman this season alongside Cleo and Annika.
