2024 JGP Ljubljana is the sixth of seven individual events of the 2024-25 Junior Grand Prix series and will take place October 2-5, 2024, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series consists of seven international junior invitational events during the fall culminating with the 2024-25 ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December 2024.

This event will feature the Singles (Women and Men) and Ice Dance disciplines. It will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, the ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, the Technical Rules for Ice Dance, and relevant ISU Communications.

Points will be awarded to skaters and teams based on their placements for each individual event. These points will determine rankings and qualification for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December.

World Standing points will also be awarded according to Communication No. 2550.

Does anyone know if Keira Hibelink (USA) will be competing on the JGP this season? She was 2nd at 2023&2024 USA Junior Nationals and just off the podium at the 2024 U.S. Junior Team cup.

She's listed as a substitute for the last 3 events, but no assignments yet.
Logan and Emilia are scheduled to compete at Ljubljana and Wuxi and could be subbed out (although Wuxi is doubtful for visa reasons). It looks like USA only had 1 spot per JGP event available.

I saw that. I wonder if she is injured since she hadn’t gotten a spot yet and hasn’t competed much this summer. She gets great height on her jumps!

It will be nice to see how Sophie is getting on. I haven't seen her for a couple of years and she was still representing Switzerland then.

I thought Sanchez would replace Shinohara. It's harsh in a way, given that Shinohara did okay in his first JGP event - but Sanchez has a chance of making the GP final and it would also be harsh to deny him that chance.

I think USFS was treating the entries as placeholders until they could confirm who they wanted for the last JGPs for Singles. They don't have the assignment until their name is on the USFS assignments page. So it looks like they lost an assignment, but they didn't have it in the first place.

Once Jacob won, he had to get a second assignment. Patrick Blackwell needed to be confirmed for Wuxi early since he also has a chance at the final, so the shuffle makes sense.

If anyone wondered how to answer Ted and Mark's questions or ask them a question, I asked and basically, on Instagram, the ISU main channel has a story up (not a post) during competition days which should have an option to send a message on it. A bit od a modern social media orientation heh

Go Sophie! Sorry Taira - you did well, but Jakob deserved the nod this time

Exciting round with Jia Shin, Rena seeking redemption, Goidina will hopefully replicate her earlier success, and of course the thoroughbred Pezzetta I hope her clean jumps get the GOE they deserve.

Donovan Carrillo is a poster boy for small feds and adverse conditions, and I am glad that everyone feels it was a treat to learn his inspiring story. (y)
Had Mexico been importing skaters from wherever, because poor put-upon skaters from other countries are so "good" and with the country system as it is they can't compete as they "deserve", Donovan would not exist as an international competitor. How much poorer the skating world would be!:eek2:

Thank the skating gods that is not the system now and will not be in the future, as far as I can tell. Raising skaters from their own countries is much more conducive to the greater good and the greater popularity of skating, IMO.

However, I certainly believe any skater who wants to switch countries should do so. Which means they are switching countries. Skaters who were born in Russia who represent Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, whatever, are, for purposes of skating, NOT Russian. They are Kazakhi, Uzbeki, whatever, the anthems of those countries will play on the stands, and those countries will be proud of their skaters, and good for them.

The only attitude I would side eye is a "wink wink nudge nudge say no more they're really Russian" and bringing glory to Mother Russia. Horse feathers.

And what is wonderful about the JGP is we get those home grown and trained skaters from small feds competing.
