“It was going well at home, but it’s going to happen sometimes, and we just have to learn from it and move forward and forget about it,” said Deschamps of the mistakes. “We just need to reset what happened and move forward.”

“We added a lot of little choreographic changes and additions, even like arms and the lifts and things like that,” his partner added. “And we were still able to do those. Just the obvious mistakes, the jumps and throws, that didn’t go well.”

“In France, we want to skate better,” added Geynish of their next Grand Prix event. “It depends on how it’s possible. But we’ll try to improve ourselves to do what we used to do during in the training sessions and events before.”

“I was ready for this throw, but I fell, and I am a little bit disappointed in myself,” said Golubeva. “I will do it more on the practice and I will land this 100 times in practice.”

This was a bittersweet win for the Canadians. You could tell by her face that she was more concerned with the way they performed than winning the medal.

The Uzbeks were great to watch, but need more time and maturity

What are your thoughts on this event and the competitors? I do like the Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps programs this year!

I hope Deanna and Max will be back on form in Finland! To me something is missing in their SP, but it's just a feeling I can't put into words. But the season has only just begun, so I'll wait and see :D

One thought: messy. I always loved Geynish, but their partnership is new, and barely junior level and it's obvious. That silver medal was honestly earned, but with these throws and this level of rigidness... yakes. American pairs uplifted last event's level, but SkCan sort of dropped back into the murky world of 2022 post-Oly.

I would not want to be the recipient of the looks on Deanna's face in the Kiss and Cry. Ouch!!! I think this pair is technically very, very good but I have never seen any chemistry between them. I'm always afraid Maxime is going to make a mistake and she'll chastise him. It was nice to see the US ladies land their jumps for a change. And watching Spencer Akira Howe's face while he competes is a joy onto itself. All in all, it was not the best pairs competition for me.

Seeing clean 3Lo solo jumps from pairs was an unexpected delight.

It was nice to see Chan/Howe compete in international competition again. The fight to be on the Worlds team in US pairs will be fun.

Love pairs. It wasn't the best competition was it? DS/D have such a great twist. LP isn't working for me. The Uzbeks were technically sound but, yes, junior level in other ways. Ditto for the Australians.

My two faves Hocke/ Kunkel and Chan/ Howe really struggled in the LP. This was a major improvement for C/ H so they might actually be in the mix by the end of the year. I don't know what's going on with H/K but I just love their program choices and I love her. Wish them success.
