I am curious... we have here some skaters with bye to Nationals... do they just need to register anyway?
They do for Quebec:

L’octroi d’une exemption permet à un patineur de passer au niveau suivant de la compétition sans avoir à concourir à un niveau préalable. Pour être considérés en vue d’une exemption, les patineurs doivent s’inscrire à leurs compétitions de sous-section ou de la section

Updated list for October 2 - https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/u...2025_Liste-des-participants-02-10-2024-V4.pdf

Judging by the URL, they made 4 updates that day. I did my best to track what they did:
- filled in all the partnerships
- added the Junior Synchro teams
- removed Fournier Beaudry/Soerensen
- Di Menna/Chartrand are no longer listed

With Di Menna/Chartrand not competing here, that will make it likely 5 Junior Pairs teams competing at Nationals (unless Kemp/Elizarov decide to stay Junior for another season, which would make it 6, or Ontario has Junior Pairs teams that will compete at November sectionals.) And since two of those teams qualified for JGPF, there will be three teams at Challenge. Everyone podiums.

(Di Menna/Chartrand did not made the Challenge TES at SGE and would have had to make it at Sectionals to compete at Challenge, so they may not have made it to Challenge this season if they did compete)

Ariano Kent/Laliberte Laurent are not in the start orders. However the Patinage Quebec byes list (here) has 3 Junior Pairs entries expected for Challenge. So I think they'll make their season debut at Challenge. I hope so at least. I'd be more worried if I hadn't seen that training clip on Instagram.

For Senior Women, it will be top 8 not including Fee Ann who will advance to Challenge out of 24 entries.

Thanks for providing the byes. It saddens me to see that Quebec now has only two pairs competing in senior... while it had many more a year ago with elizabeth and daniel, nicolas and emmanuelle (though they were short lived) Thierry with gabby (though they didn't give us much) and Emy and Bryan. It's sad really.

I think this sectional is the most competitive in terms of the Senior Ladies. I can’t wait to watch this competition

I was hoping that they'd be able to pick up another Challenge bye. The cut off last year was 137.7 to make it to Challenge, with 9th place being 144.99.

Yeah! I remember.
In the meantime, athletes from other provinces make it to Challenge with much lower scores. I was hoping they would give more slots to these skaters from Quebec.

Quebec deserves more spots in women and dance.. the system is not working well under current circumstances

They did reallocate spots this season, but it mostly was taking a spot away from Ontario in all Junior/Senior categories and giving Alberta an additional spot for Junior Men and Junior Women. With the byes though, Ontario could theoretically have 19 entries at Challenge for Senior Women.

Well, I wonder how many women from Alberta are competitive at this point... 1 I hope Rose Théroux and Amelia Orzel will skate for Alberta under these circumstances.

Maybe they should rethink the whole system.

Amelia has switched to representing Alberta, so there's more competition for those spots now. I can see Rose switching depending on how this season goes. She may have more support from Quebec that would keep her representing them.

Yes... it probably is a question of funding too..
