The list of recommended junior skaters was made public. Mao Shimada (13), the reigning junior national champion, did not qualify for the Japanese nationals because of her age. Mao Shimada is the next big thing in figure skating with the quadruple toe loop she successfully landed at the junior nationals.

I thankfully know just enough Japanese to read the Fuji TV time tables, so I finally got around to making this schedule showing which channels the skating will be on!

The announcement has already been put into effect: Japan bans foreign visitors for 1 month over Omicron fears

While this is only for foreign visitors, the one-month banning restriction will run for 1 month, which covers the period of National Championship. This will more likely affect the skaters' coaches, if they're planning to accompany the skaters to Japan for the Nationals. As for the skaters training overseas, it will depend on if there's further requirement for quarantine and if they're required to return to Japan earlier (depending on the countries where they train, and the situation).

Those are pretty much what I can think of: for the men, women, and pair. As for the dance couples, I think other than Kiria Hirayama/Aru Tateno and Haruna Yajima/Yoshimitsu Ikeda, the rest are currently training oversea.

They could get an exemption and perhaps enter under a two-week quarantine if they're vaccinated. I doubt R/R will need to go, but the dance teams are pretty much a necessity. Hopefully we'll get some more info in the next few weeks.

Yes, I have the same impression that including Kaori, Kazuki, and Mai going on quarantine after their GP competitions, and they were able to practice in the designated rink. (But did Kaori mention that she could only skate during certain assigned time periods?)

At the same time, it seems that the arrangement of returning and quarantine time is still under negotiation? (at least skaters training overseas are now able to return to Japan or at least they've made the plan to return...)

*Where are the skaters - update
It looks like Satoko is actually in Japan - I saw from tweeter that someone said from the local news report, Satoko has been training in Osaka with Honda Takeshi, and she just posted an IG story showing some food that's obvious....from Japan.

BTW, do we have news that Koshiro was back to Swiss after the East Sectionals? (Sorry I forgot he was in Warsaw Cup so might as well be back in Swiss after the competition...)
