They unblocked for Skate America but not Skate Canada it seems. I am with sky and just seen you can get a free subscription to Discovery plus ,would this include the Eurosport figure skating? It's an offer I only just found. Looked on Eurosport Player you can still subscribe for one month at 6.99. If I can get it free on this sky Q deal I will. Any information about it . Thanks
After reading this post alarm bells rang. I watched SA on my normal browser, and wondered if it would continue? So I've just opened Opera with built in VPN I have used to watch the ISU Channel before, but nothing! By now they usually have all the videos ready to be streamed, but absolutely nothing about Skate Canada is showing, meaning my VPN cannot be working? Aaarrgh! Luckily I have till Black Friday on my annual subscription to the Eurosport Player, which I usually watch on my laptop. That's not working, so tried to log in online on my tablet, had to change my pw, but phew! I can watch SC! Also glad I didn't have to install the app, you can stream online, and watch On Demand. SA is still on there. Panic averted! But what we have to go through to watch the sport we love. :drama::eek2:

Dundee isn’t that easy to get to but The Netherlands is one of those places I think is very well connected with Scotland.

I think you can fly straight to Edinburgh and get the train. in fact all the skaters are from countries with good Scottish transport connections.
I don't know if you still can but the flights from Aberdeen to Amsterdam used to be quite frequent.

My Eurosport subscription just ended so I’m gonna have to join the Discovery team for £59.99 :( Probably not until Europeans it looks like as Si and Chris are not yet commentating.

I wonder if Mark will be doing every GP - I would assume unlikely because of DOI but I guess doing it virtually is different :scratch2:

I wish ISU would pay him and Chris together because they're best together but will take what we can get
Definitely! I’ll take what I can get. At least it’s not Ted Barton, he’s nice but not my style!

Back on topic, good luck Lilah and Lewis and Zoe and Chris! xx

Thank you!!!

Wow, nearly the entire Irish team is entered! It's only the ones that are based overseas (Elizabeth and the Condons) that are missing.

Good to see pretty much all the top Junior and Senior British Singles skaters entered. Should make for good competitions.

When we have a decent sized Pairs field, I'm a bit disappointed that Zoe and Chris are not entered. But, at least Anastasia and Luke are.

Boys but it makes me feel old seeing Tamsin Sear's daughter competing in Juniors! Can't say I'm familiar with the other British Junior girl, Christie Anne Shannon. But, from a quick search there, I gather she is Scottish.

And after she rescued the Ladies competition in 2019, it is good to see Aleksandra Golovkina returning. I admit that I was worried when she withdrew from Nice last week. But, with her now training in Dundee, it would make sense to do their competition instead of going through all the red tape involved with travelling to France.

Hope there's a livestream!

The Irish contingent includes Justina Tkacheva too in the Intermediate Novice in the interclub, younger sister of Sophia. Golding is entered in the Senior SP of the interclub competition too along with Foster.

Thank you so much. :thank: I didn't realise there were Interclub competitions too (I really hate it when there are two different sets of Entries / Results pages for what is the same event!)

Ooooh. And I just noticed something else. Robyn Foster is making her Senior level debut in the Interclub section of the event, before reverting back to Junior level for the ISU section.

I wonder why Elizabeth isn't staying on as well. It's not as if she hasn't done multiple competitions at the same event before. In Februrary 2020, she competed in Junior level at the Irish Championships, and then stayed on to compete at both Junior and Senior level at Skate Southern. Mind you, she only did the SP in the Senior competition. But, even so. 5 programmes in 4 days is some going!

As a side note, I see there is a guy competing at Basic Novice level that has the same name as a guy I went to school with. But, somehow, I don't think it's the same person. The one I know is about 20 years older than the skater! ;)

Since you mentioned her in passing, I see that Sophia is competing in the Tirnavia Ice Cup today (I had forgotten that was on this week). She'll be the second skater to start, at 13:27:00 CEST (11:27:00 GMT / 12:27:00 BST).

Genevieve Somerville was supposed to be the penultimate skater to start the SP, but she has withdrawn. So, I hope she is OK.

As I've been spending the past couple of days watching the Denis Ten Memorial, I'm going to continue watching it today. But, I'll pop over to Slovenia to see how Sophia gets on.

By the way, I have just added the Eurosport Player links into my Skate Canada reminder posts, but I couldn't find the Short Dance stream. Does anybody know what happened? Did they actually broadcast it? Put it like this - if an archived copy of the coverage doesn't appear pretty soon, there are going to be a lot of very angry Lilah and Lewis fans!

And don't forget, Daylight Savings Time ends tonight. (Why, oh why, does there always have to be a North American GP on the weekend the clocks change?! It makes it so much more complicated for me making out the reminder posts! :drama: )

Is that for TV coverage? For the Eurosport Player to watch online it's going up to £39.99 for an annual subscription. But wait till Black Friday at the end of November, as if they have your email, you'll get offers. Or I gather Discovery is £6.99 monthly. Gotta be a cheaper way than paying 60 quid?

Eurosport Player isn’t accepting new users unfortunately. Everyone has to move over to Discovery. :(

:(:(:( So when Worlds coverage starts, but the BBC only show the Free Programs even though they have the rights, if UK is geoblocked by ISU, so many fans will be rightly upset. That's if BBC bothers with Worlds, they may just show what they can' of Olympics.

Looks very similar to the situation over here. I renewed my eurosport player for the season early (September?) and so got it for a year for the old price. I am not a new user either. But our public broadcaster does exactly the same as the BBC: shows only the Free Programmes and not all of them, and mostly only for the women's discipline (my least favourite). I think they showed slightly more at last World's because we had participants in 3 disciplines, but I don't know for sure as I was watching everything on Eurosport player in any case. They might show some more of the OG - at least if the FS events aren't held simultaneously with speed skating which they always cover extensively, But needing to pay for a complete discovery package just to watch Figure skating does seem overpriced. It does not look good for the future, but I hope to be wrong!

I installed the Eurosport Player app for Android on my tablet - still available on Google play. I feel such a dipstick I didn't do it before SC, as it's so much better than watching online via their website. I've got a full month left so I may aswell enjoy the GPs and see what happens after that?

If you don't hear from me again, I may have gone to prison. I sent a really angry tweet to infrontsports the Nordic company who have been blocking my LilahandLewis videos worldwide. Surely they have no right to do that if it's outside their territory?

Thankfully this one stayed viewable, but I'm afraid not in Russia.

Dear @La Rhumba . If they're going to send you to prison for a tweet with a legitimate complaint, I think there's many of us who will start a protest movement. On twitter!

Awww thank you @ladyjane :ghug:

It's hard not to feel persecuted sometimes when my videos get blocked worldwide but I see others of the same event still up. :drama::shrug:

Over the years, I had become used to Eurosport not showing LIVE coverage of the North American GP's on their linear TV channels. But I was expecting that we would get LIVE linear TV coverage for the Italian GP this week. Alas, we aren't.

It really is getting bad for figure skating fans.

A few years ago, we thought the situation was bad, as Eurosport were only showing portions of the skating competitions on their linear TV channels due to other sports taking priority. But, we were actually well off compared to now, when no skating is being shown on the Eurosport linear channels at all.

Fortunately, my ESP Player subscription runs until after the Olympics finish. So, I don't have to worry for a while yet. But, I have no idea what happens when it does run out. One of the Dutch members told us in the Skate America TV thread that her ESP Player subscription runs out next Tuesday, so she has promised to tell us what they do with her.

About Infront. Firstly, they are actually a Swiss company. And, they are not a broadcaster; they are actually the promotor of the ISU events. You see, a couple of years ago, the ISU decided that to outsource the promotion of their events, and appointed Infront, who are also the promotors of most of the FIS events, to do it. So, they do have a right to take action against videos anywhere.

And bringing in an outside promotor is the reason why the coverage got messed up, because Infront decided to stop selling the rights on a pan-European basis, and instead sold them on a country-by-country basis, hoping to get in more money. But, hardly any national broadcasters were interested. And, the ISU ended up having to start streaming the events to plug the gaps, until Infront eventually did a deal with Eurosport. But, because some national broadcasters did buy the rights, Eurosport were not able to get the pan-European rights that they had before.

One of the areas that Eurosport do not have the figure skating rights is Scandinavia, where the Swedish company Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) bought the rights. And from what I gather, NENT are very protective of their rights, and do go after videos on YouTube outside of the area in which they have rights. (Is is possible that you have got NENT mixed up with Infront?)

To make matters worse, NENT are in the process of expanding their streaming service, Viaplay, outside of Scandinavia. For example, they have recently bought a pile of high-profile broadcasting rights in the Netherlands, such as the Formula 1, Premier League football and Bundesliga football, in preparation for Viaplay's launch there in the new year. Viaplay already launched a few months ago in Poland and the Baltic States, and plans to launch in the UK later in 2022, and in Canada, Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2023.

I don't want to be a doom-monger, but it only looks like things are going to get worse.

Oh, how I miss the days when the EBU had pan-European rights to all the winter sports, and Eurosport (which the EBU owned at the time) and the national broadcasters that were EBU members (such as the BBC, ITV and RTÉ) could just select what they wanted to show.
