The choreographer and coach of the group Eteri Tutberidze, Daniil Gleikhengauz told how their group monitors the weight of the skaters.

- Myth about your school: children are weighed twice a day.

- Once. But every day.

- What can change depending on the weighing result?

- The coach's wish to change this weight. But if, for example, you have a weight of 47 kg, and you are told that your height or weight should be 46 and a half for six months, then no one says that tomorrow you need to come and weigh 46 and a half.

They tell you: here you go, seven days is a small problem to lose weight a hundred grams. Without resorting to any prohibited methods.

- In the morning an athlete came, got on the scales, he suddenly had plus 500. How do your actions change in training?

- No way. But five hundred is not yet fatal. Now, if plus one and a half or two, then you simply will not jump. This is already traumatic.

Definitely not ideal. At the v minimum a conflict of interest.

Well....I guess it‘s sad that this doesn‘t surprise me in the slightest.

I was drinking coffee when I read it, but thankfully no spitting. I did kinda cringe-laugh though, and now I want to know what his facial expression was when he answered that question.

On the subject of Plyushchenko again, his role is team coordinator/head coach, yet from the Tarakanova interview one can learn there were promises not delivered, differences in opinion and attitude between the various specialists, confusing her and making her loose faith, ultimately making her parents decide it was best to leave.

Being head coach/team coordinator akin to the Karolyi's in USA gymnastics is a precarious postition, as one should refrain from showing favouritism and having personal interests in one or more athletes over the others. In Russian gymnastics up to and including the Arkayev period, the best athletes were lured/poached by the head coach and were henceforth his personal project, with all the benefits in both federation support and financial rewards aka generous cuts at the price money, and Arkayev being head of the federation at that time ...

With the forced division between the Trusova group and the Kostornaya group, a possible pitfall has perhaps already been avoided?

So, from the human interest point of view, it will be most interesting to follow this development and how Plyushchenko 'people manages' his team.

Like all the training groups with athletes on the national selections, Plyushchenko also wished for a different season, a proper season, where there would be a real chance to earn some of that valuable hard currency prize money in the ISU Grand Prix series, besides getting your athletes and yourself exposed to a wider audience than Russia's alone.

Rostelekom Cup will be held without a mixed zone and long live interviews most likely, but perhaps we will hear something from the leaders of the various training groups?

Guess we have a new Leading coaching Team: Mishin! Team Eteri having a corona cluster (lets hope all goes well), plushy having puberty girls with nervouse breakdowns. Very clever from Mishin, let them fight while I prepare my skaters quietly a sneak up from behind

Mishin won both singles and collected 3 medals overall. His skaters and him are clearly overjoyed

him offering "peace" to Eteri was actually him telling her to work for him... LOL
And then he goes on to say her rejecting this "job offer" meant they couldn't make peace...
oh wow, he really went there... Not surprised that Sport-express omitted the job offer part when releasing the interview.

Personally, I think Moskvina is the best coach in Russia. The women's and men's competitions at Rostelecom were ok. The pairs competition, on the other hand, was amazing. Mishin is a great coach, but no one is as great as Tamara Moskvina. Fight me!

And it will go on as long as all of that remains so. So can more the holier than thou on both sides - especially that of Tutberidze, which yes, from a plague on both houses outsider's viewpoint is that bit louder, more self-righteous and grating - give it a rest?

One correction: it’s not a gossip, it’s his interview with a video attached.
This thread is for coaches, and Eteri is discussed here more than extensively, just looking a few posts above, Danny G got flack for his commentary. Perhaps deservedly.
In that regard, this is an addition to one of the first coach interviews posted in this thread - that same interview by Plushenko.
but I actually agree that both can be pretty appalling in their own ways sometimes, and yet have achievements for which they are recognized for by many.
They’re very complex people.

But in all honestly, you have to admit that BOTH of them have done equally appaling things at least, right?

Everyone knows about Tutberidze’s disturbing tendency to go on media (and especially social media) rants, trying to ruin her ex students careers by painting them as ungrateful, lazy, jealous, money-hungry and what not. And as a more established coach than Plushenko, she‘s had more time (and more students) to do that to.

But did Plushenko, in the limited time he did have, not do the very same thing? Did he not accuse Tarakanova of being dramatic, difficult and overemotional after she left his Academy? Didn‘t his very own words in interviews cause Serafima Sakhanovich to have a nervous breakdown? (by her own words)

The truth is and here I think the poster you quoted was quite right - that those two coaches have shown repeatedly that they will put their own gain in front of their students‘. Otherwise they would not jump at every opportunity to include literal children in their media fights. They would not throw their students’ confidential words out in the open in an attempt to be shady. (because that’s what Plushenko did, when he proudly declared how Kostornaya hated her former program. He had to have KNOWN she‘d get all kind of hate for that. And he still did it) They would not have a catfight over Zagitova (including publishing her private messages by Team Tutberidze), who gets her name dragged into a mess she has absolutely no business with. They would not use these kids, trying to triumph over the other, as if they were no more than accessories in a petty game.

I‘m sorry, I know you genuinely like Plushenko. And I don‘t know whether he (or Eteri) truly *is* an appaling person. But he is at least a person who has done appaling things. Same for Tutberidze.

There is no innocent side in this “war“. Other than the often underaged athletes who literally only want to train and succeed in the sport they have dedicated much of their childhood, energy, and future to.

Yes he did, but no-one excused him for it, not even Plushy fans, I was horrified when I read it and posted my disappointment. I hope that Plushy has learned from this.

Eteri fans however will excuse her behaviour and actions constantly. Look at Adian Pitkeev, I bring him up a lot, but have you read what Eteri and her team did to him? They forced him to compete, ridiculed and played down the excruciating pain he was in and then when he couldn't compete anymore they trashed him calling him lazy and slagging him off for not giving flowers. If you ask me they should be forever grateful they didn't get a lawsuit! Bring that up though and the Eteri fans completely ignore it, Adian was one of the most promising men in Russia, Nastya T thank goodness is still able to compete, Adian had to give up his entire competitive career.

I guess Eteri fans don't think Adian was important, but he was a hard-working kid with a dream that was destroyed by poor management and coaching. I wonder did Eteri learn anything at all from that experience? Or does she still feel all high and mighty because Adian eventually gave her her stupid flowers?
