I'm not sure but I'd like to see the ISU make an exception, given the circumstances, to give both China and Italy each a host pick for each event. The Chinese athletes hoping to compete shouldn't be penalized for this move.

Based on some semi-lite googling, it was announced in June that Cup of China would not happen in November, and it was before assignments had went out. The ISU would be right to not allow China 'host spots' since China is not hosting an event and give the hosting spots to the actual hosting nation.

That's what I thought. It was a lot earlier. But anyway, host spots should be given to the host I'd say, so it doesn't matter. Italy is the host so there is no question imo.

Theoretically, Boyang and Han Yan are each guaranteed a spot, so they aren't just host picks and Gabrielle is probably Italy's only GP-level candidate in men's, so he should take Yudong's spot.But if China gives up its host spot, then either Boyang or Han Yan won't get a GP assignment

Poor Yudong. I was looking forward to see him. He has a nice potential. His 3A isn't the most consistent but he has a quad and good 3-3s.

That really makes me furious. For women, for starters, both Gutmann and Tornaghi had better SBs than Hongyi Chen, the highest ranked chinese woman at 56th in 2020.
If the Chinese federation has any decency, they will withdraw their men and women - pronto.
