I would like to know whether you like the First Posts of our competition threads the way they are or whether you would like more or less info on them.

Please tell us what you think in detail after you vote on the poll?

Thanks for your help!

I would not DREAM to advise on the care you show on those threads. Honestly, a labor of love, and it shows.

That said, for me personally, I most often click the links for "Entries/Results" and "Streaming" (or "Livestream" I can't exactly remember what it's called.)

Edit: Maybe I'm messing up the title of the first one. I mean the one that includes the protocol pdf.

I love these posts; cannot imagine what more could be added. Favorites are breakdown of skaters by country, info regarding streaming, music choices, start times in my area.. all such a help and so much appreciated.
I also look forward to the PBP posts, humor and fun comments from GSs during competitions.

I like them as they are.

One thing I would like to point out, though. There are now two versions of the ISU Results website running side-by-side:

The addresses for the pages are identical. The only thing that is different is the start. For example, here are the two versions of last week's Junior GP Entries / Results page:

http://www.isuresults.com/results/season2223/jgpcze2022/
https://results.isu.org/results/season2223/jgpcze2022/

And here is an ISU Bio:

http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00111632.htm
https://results.isu.org/bios/isufs00111632.htm

Typically of the ISU, they haven't set up a re-direct from the old site to the new site. But, they have at least kept the old site up, so links to it still work (unlike what they did when the main ISU website got an overhaul a few years ago). Whether this will remain the case for long remains to be seen.

I found the new site by accident on Friday, and I have now switched to using it in the reminder posts that I put up at the start of segments (since we are not far into the season, and since it was only 2 links per post, I also went back and changed the links in the reminder posts I had already put up). I have also started updating the links in my Fan Fest OP's, which is slow going because I am also taking the opportunity to check all the results pages, and am finding an awful pile of them have been taken down. (Why, oh why, are Feds so short sighted?!)

Of course, given the amount of information in them, it would be too much to ask for existing Competition OP's to be changed over. But, I'm just letting you know so that the new site can be used for future competitions.

Hope this helps

I like them the way they are, they're super useful, now that the world clock is back! During the JGP, there are no program names shown for the FS in the streams, so the list of programs is very practical to look up here.
One thing that would improve my enjoyment even more: if the listing of skaters and their programs copied the starting order, so I don't need to, say, scroll down 35 girls to find what the first skater on the ice is skating to for her FS. Right now the skaters' programs list is sorted by nationality.

I probably use all of the info in one way or another - the Detailed Results link, the start order as a reference when I'm going back to watch an event that's already aired, the list of skaters by country with program info when I want to know what the heck this music is. Thank you for all the work that goes into creating them!

How far back to the results go?

I just checked using the table in the OP of my "Distribution Of Major Championships 1998–2018" thread that I told you about a few weeks ago, and the new site goes back to the 2003–2004 season.

2003–2004 was actually when the ISU Results site started. Before that, results were on the Ice Calc site. But, nothing from that era has been transferred over.

Ach! I just realised: After updating that thread a few weeks ago, I'm going to have to do it all over again! :drama:

(Actually, it's a good thing because when checking to answer your question, I discovered that I missed linking to archived versions of some of the pages that are on Ice Calc).

Sorry if finding the new site has created a lot of work for you in your video threads.

By the way, I do hope that those of you who want more (or less) info will tell me what you would like added or dropped.

You can either post on this thread or PM me.

Mostly I am pleased the way they are, but only one wish: I hope, if possible, the date of the small competitions could be also told on the title. like it is on GPs and Championships. So it would be easier to see, what competitions are going on at the moment.

That is actually something that was tried out in the "Other Nationals" sub-forum during the 2017-18 Season:

https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/forums/607

Like you, I can see having dates in the thread title being of particular benefit in the "Other International Events" and "Other Nationals" sub-fora, where there are threads for lots of different events.

But, unfortunately, it didn't catch on. I suppose the constant changing of dates of events during the pandemic made it unviable. But, things have settled down now, so it could be brought back.

I think my ISU links are linking to a page where you can find results so I am a bit confused.

Also this link opens to a blank page for me in Firefox and Chrome.

Mmmm. I'm not sure if I can help you on that one. The IceCalc site was before my time, so I don't know much about it. But, that archived page looks like it could be useful for me when I eventually come to revise my tables, so thank you.

That's right enough. The home page of the ISU Results site has always been a blank page. If you click on the corresponding link for the old site, http://www.isuresults.com, you will find the same.

I have no idea why the ISU decided to just leave the home page blank. It would be handy if it would have links to the different sections of the site - Bios; Event Pages; Results Pages; Statistics; etc.

But, what do you expect? This is the ISU, after all! :rolleye:
