FISG launches the Italian Grand Prix

The FISG (Italian Ice Sports Fed) announced their intention to host a 4 event Grand Prix for Italian skaters (and some invited international skaters) culminating in a final in February 2021. Most skaters and teams will appear at 2 events and the highest scoring skaters and teams will qualify for the final. The FISG is also offering prize money to those competing.

There is a full list of participants at the link above, and it seems many of the top Italian skaters are taking part!

Dates of the competitions are as follows:

1. 24-25 October 2020, in Bergamo (Skaters including: Matteo Rizzo, Daniel Grassl, Gabriele Frangipani, Elisabetta Leccardi, Monica Della Monica/Matteo Guarise, Rebecca Ghilardi/Filippo Ambrosini)
2. 21-22 November 2020, in Torino (Skaters including: Alessia Tornaghi, Roberta Rodeghiero, Lucrezia Beccari, Charlène Guignard/Marco Fabbri, Carolina Moscheni/Francesco Fioretti)
3. 28-29 November 2020, in Egna (Skaters including: Lucrezia Beccari, Lara Naki Gutmann, Matteo Rizzo, Daniel Grassl, Gabriele Frangipani, Elisabetta Leccardi, Della Monica/Guarise, Rebecca Ghilardi/Filippo Ambrosini)
4. 5-6 December 2020, in Trento (Skaters including: Lara Naki Gutmann, Alessia Tornaghi, Charlène Guignard/Marco Fabbri, Katrine Roy/Claudio Pietrantonio)

Final: 13 and 14 February 2021

This event sounds like a great opportunity for the Italian skaters!

Interesting idea! If they stream and many foreign fans watch their Italian favorites, they should be able to get some revenue from advertisers, no?

It would likely only be skaters who are in the EU. Otherwise, mandatory quarantines would be in order, and skaters aren't going to want to deal with that.

The Fed president announced that foreign skaters will be only those who train in Italy. It can refer to some Austrian and Spanish skaters.

I really hope they'll stream it worldwide, so we can all enjoy the skating! The Italian Fed are usually pretty good, they stream Nationals and Lombardia Trophy, and tend to leave the streams up afterwards so fans can watch later on, if they cannot see them live.

ETA: just seen the Instagram story on the FISG page, they're promoting live-streaming on the FISG YouTube Channel (fingers crossed it will be available worldwide)

Well, at least in The Netherlands it seems to be working. Just watched a kind of promo for all ice sports in Italy. Wonderful. I'll be watching saturday!

i'm actually surprised that this event is still happening, given the new restrictions in my country. of course i'm not complaining i'm going to see my babies again this week end!

Lombardia is in quarantine (and other regions in lighter version of it), i think this puts a sad end to this event
