US Figure Skating's post on Twitter:

U.S. Figure Skating mourns the loss of coaching legend Frank Carroll.A member of the World and U.S. Figure Skating Halls of Fame, Frank was instrumental in the careers of numerous Olympic and World champions and many future Hall of Famers.

In lieu of flowers, Frank’s loved ones encourage donations to the Memorial Fund, which supports U.S. Figure Skating athletes.

This is a shock; I did not know he was ill.

A legend of the sport, may he rest in peace.

And how good of US figure skating to use a photo from his dapper younger days. (and he continued to be dapper in his later years as well). Quite the looker. :)

Did you know that in his younger days as a buff athlete in his own right he appeared in a couple of teen-age Beach Party movies as eye candy in a swim suit? (He didn't talk much about it after he became a respected coach. :) )

He was a jewel of a coach and a good man. He loved all of his proteges with a passion and did his best with each and every one.
