Hi all, I am an adult recreational skater just beginning spins, bunny hops and waltz jumps. I am currently in Jackson Freestyle size 5 W, but am having issues with my foot shifting forward into the toes during bunny hops. I also experience pain in the midfoot area... I am thinking that I need a different set of boots and blades. The closest fitter is about 3 hours away so I am hoping to get some advice here to get an idea of what direction to go in. I am 5'2, 155lbs. My foot type is Egyptian, 9in length and 9in in width when wrap the tape measure completely around the widest part of my foot and I have medium/normal arches and I believe I have a somewhat narrow heel as I often find my heel slipping out of my normal shoes and I have to wear gel sleeves on my ankles so that my ankle doesn't slip up in my current boots. Any advice would be great!! Thank you. I have been hesitant to size down because my feet are wide and I get pain across the midfoot but I don't think I can continue in these boots.

Hi and welcome! You need a different brand of boot, Jackson is going to be too wide for your foot shape. You should look into Riedell, Graf and possibly Edea. You are also going to need a stiffer boot than is usual for your skill set due to your weight etc stats.
Look into Riedell Flair or Motion. Graf F4000 or Richmond Special. Edea Chorus.

Be aware that all of the above are boot only and will need a blade. Suggestion being a traditional style intermediate level blade: Either MK Pro or John Wilson Coronation Ace.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! Would you be able to suggest a good fitter near me? I am in Greenville, South Carolina, US

Best bet in that area is about a 2 hour drive. Kinzie's Closet in Martinez, GA.

Kinzie’s Closet is actually not in business anymore
I apologize that I forgot that she retired. The only places I could think of within driving distance would be Rainbo in Nashville, and possibly Extreme Ice in Charlotte area. There was a pro fitter in the Myrtle Beach area but IDK if he's still there.

There is a pro fitter still in Myrtle Beach - not full time but you can make an appointment. Feel free to PM me for contact info.
