The ISU Council considered applications made by Members for ISU Championships during its meeting on June 6-9, 2007 in San Francisco, USA. The ISU Council took the following decisions:

Definite Allotment of ISU Championships 2008

European Figure Skating Championships, January 21 - 27, 2008 - Zagreb/Croatia
Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, February 4 - 10, 2008, Seoul, Korea
World Junior Figure Skating Championships, February 25 – March 2, 2008 - Sofia/Bulgaria
World Figure Skating Championships, March 17 – 23, 2008 - Gothenburg/ Sweden
World Synchronized Skating Championships, March 28 – 30, 2008 - Budapest/ Hungary

Provisional Allotments ISU Championships 2009 (for allotments which were pending in previous publications)

ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2009 Pending – not allotted
ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships, March 26- 28, 2009 - Zagreb, Croatia
ISU European Figure Skating Championships, January 18-24, 2010 - Tallinn, Estonia
ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2010, Pending – not allotted
ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2010, Pending – not allotted
ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2010, Pending – not allotted

The world of figure skating is bent on having their competitions in winter. Don't they realize that figure skating is done indoors and can be done in June? Boy, would that increase tourism around the world!!!

So True! It would be fabulous to go to Sweden in May or June instead of March!!!

If figure skating was a year-round sport, I'd hate to think what would happen to the skaters. As it is, with competitions from September through March, and (for the top skaters) exhibitions for two or three months, skaters don't have much down time. They need off-time to develop new programs and hone skills.
