With the exception of Lake Placid, why are all the JGPs in Europe and most in Central and Eastern Europe. I'm not trying to be political. Just wondering and speculating that those cities requested and others didn't.
The North America JGP rotates every 3 years among USA, Canada and Mexico. There's usually an Asian JGP (China or Japan so far, it was in Taiwan last fall) but not this year for some reason. The bulk of the JGPs have tended to be in Europe, mostly Eastern, and I'm not sure what the main reasons are. The host federations have to be able to cover the costs of running a JGP, and oftentimes it's a way for many of these smaller federations to be "tested" for the possibility of hosting larger ISU senior competitions. Or a JGP could just be the "biggest" event a federation can afford to host and it's a privilege for them to do so.

For the JGP in Sheffield the British Federation has released the following list of skaters and qualifying procedures:

Some of team GB has been announced for the Sheffield JGP, and details of how the rest will be selected: http://www.iceskating.org.uk/node/1559

On that note:

Lindsay Cohen has received her release from US Figure Skating. She and Evan are now eligible to represent Great Britain.

Lindsay and Evan will be skating at the Lee Valley competition in Great Britain from August 26th to September 1st.

All the participating federations have to submit names no later than 31 days before the draw for each event. Since the draw for the Lake Placid JGP should be on August 30, the JGP list should be up by Sunday, July 29 or Monday, July 30.
