The North America JGP rotates every 3 years among USA, Canada and Mexico. There's usually an Asian JGP (China or Japan so far, it was in Taiwan last fall) but not this year for some reason. The bulk of the JGPs have tended to be in Europe, mostly Eastern, and I'm not sure what the main reasons are. The host federations have to be able to cover the costs of running a JGP, and oftentimes it's a way for many of these smaller federations to be "tested" for the possibility of hosting larger ISU senior competitions. Or a JGP could just be the "biggest" event a federation can afford to host and it's a privilege for them to do so.With the exception of Lake Placid, why are all the JGPs in Europe and most in Central and Eastern Europe. I'm not trying to be political. Just wondering and speculating that those cities requested and others didn't.
