JGP assignments for 2024/2025?

Last year, the JGP announcement/assignments for the federations was released on May 13th with a deadline of June 1st for federations to inform the ISU all their participants for the 7 events.

Unless I missed it, it seems it hasn't been released this year yet and we are almost into June. Any idea when they will release this? Or perhaps federations have been notified individually and it just hasn't been publically released yet? I'm sure the feds with less than all 7 events in a discipline would like to know sooner rather than later which events they got.

But again, even though I searched for it, I may have missed it.

Hmm senior but not jr announced unless i missed it.
JGP spots get allocated to countries, not named skaters. It is based on each country's placement at Junior Worlds. The entries come out around 3-4 weeks before each event.

I admit, I am way more interested in the junior men than the senior.

This would be a bit rough to let only let a federation only know 3-4 weeks before an event. Some federations are coming from halfway across the world to compete. This late notice makes logistics and costs a nightmare

The federations know at which JGP they have entries, but the names of the skaters aren't know until 4 weeks before the individual JGPs.

And the list of which countries have entries at which JGP is exactly what the original post was talking about - It has not been released to the public yet, though I assume it has been given to the federations as the Grand Prix announcement document has also not been released yet, despite the entries already being known.
I would not be surprised if the lack of public release for both announcements is the French skating fed moving the location of the Grand Prix Final and giving up their JGP. 🙃

The skaters are typically told that they are being assigned 2-4 weeks before their names become public. In ice dancing for example, choices for JGP are told they are being assigned a week or so after the Lake Placid competition. That gives the Fed enough time to get the plane tickets, etc.

What's tough is if you are an alternate and told only 1-2 weeks before the event that you are going. I remember one team who went to a JGP last year, and the tickets available for the Fed's budget required them to do 5 stopovers. So the team paid for the excess needed to get tickets with only 2 stopovers, though they had to take a 5-hour bus from the capital to the city where the JGP was being held, with the tickets paid for the skaters.

Some feds decide at the beginning of the season who goes where, some just before the deadline of the event.
Yes, to be more accurate Feds decide the names of the skaters thus way. Finland usually announces the names quite early of the season, but quite often there also are changes.

To add to this, I just looked up when the General JGP Announcement was published in 2022, and that wasn't until July 7th (almost two weeks after the federations had to respond), so it would not be unprecedented if we didn't get the list detailing the number of entries by federation for each JGP until some time in late June/early July.

I think some federations just submit the names of all possible skaters for all possible events (with some designated as alternates, of course).

I was only looking for the General Announcement last week, and was wondering what I was doing wrong because I couldn't find it!

I wanted to see the allocations tables to see if I could try to work out which events a particular kid of mine might appear at. (Believe it or not, doing that has worked before! ;) )

So, we might have to wait another month. :rolleye: :drama:

Oh, well!

Some federations have already announced which JGPs they have been allotted, so it seems to be indeed just a matter of it not having been released to the public.

*Everyone who competed at Jr Worlds with a pairs teams has at least one entry in all 4 pairs events, most have two per event, and the top 4 (USA, GEO, ITA, CAN) have 3 per JGP.

Like Australia, New Zealand would have been allocated two Ice Dance spots, but it seems like they have already decided that they will not be using them.
Keep in mind that host countries are allocated to their own JGP and that they can enter up to three skaters/teams in all disciplines and an unlimited number of pairs teams, regardless of how many spots they earned at Jr Worlds last season.
(For example, China will likely have three entries in Women's, Men's and Ice Dance at JGP Wuxi, one more entry in these three disciplines at a different JGP and one pairs entry each at three JGPs.)
