Kristina Andreyevna Astakhova (Russian: Кристина Андреевна Астахова) & Alexei Alexandrovich Rogonov (Russian: Алексей Александрович Рогонов) are pair skaters representing Russia.

Astakhova was born on 25 February 1997 in Moscow, Russia.

Rogonov was born on 6 June 1988 in Salsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union (now Russia).

Before teaming up in June 2014 both of them skated with other partners: Kristina with Maxim Kurdiukov and Nikita Bochkov and Alexei with Anastasia Martiusheva and Sabina Imaikina.

They are silver medalists of the 2015 Winter Universiade, and winners of two Challenger Series events (the 2014 Volvo Open Cup and the 2014 Golden Spin of Zagreb). In February 2018 they participated in the XXIII Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang as a result of Ksenia Stolbova not being invited by the IOC to participate in the FS event.

Following the 2017/18 season Alexei Rogonov announced the split of the pair as a result of Kristina's retirement from figure skating and expressed his wish to continue skating with other partner. Later in the summer his teaming up with Amina Ustimkina was confirmed.

Kristina and Alexei's coach, Artur Dmitriev, is a two-time Olympic Pairs Champion: in 1992 with Natalia Mishkutionok and in 1998 with Oksana Kazakova.

I just logged in thinking of starting a thread for them but you beat me to it. I like their style and both their SP and FS and I hope they do well at their first Worlds'. I'm an old Artur Dmitriev fan and hope he succeeds as a coach with this pair. His influence is clearly visible in the choreography.

I like this pair a lot too - they are so charismatic, especially him. It's really impressive how well they have done with less than a year together. And their programs are fantastic.

I actually love her as well. She has improved a lot and she just turned 18 like 3 days ago!

I discovered this pair at the WC15 and they are super cool :)
Here is their short program (here is them at COR)
Here is their free skate

It is crazy how good they are because they teamed up only in June 2014! They are coached by Artur Dmitriev so I am sure they are going to get even better.

Here is their new SP for next season
And here is them having fun on a rooftop :)

I hope they can make the team next year! Love them

I know I love their style! They are also very powerful. You can really sense the Dmitriev influence in their skating

Thanks for posting this! I thought they had a really original free skate this season, and it was interesting to learn about the new one for the next season. And, yes, it was really lucky that they had a chance to go to Worlds, and now they'll have two guaranteed GP assignments. The pairs competition is steep in Russia, but I keep hoping against hope that they'll be able to go to Euros and Worlds this year.

Today is Alexei's birthday! So I wish him a happy day and a good season ahead. :) :hb:

It was quite poignant for me to read in their last interview about their bad luck in the beginning of the season: they tried to get tech minimums in case they got a chance to go to Euros and Worlds, but one B competition was cancelled, and the other they won, but their marks weren't counted towards the tech minimums because not enough countries were represented there (I guess somebody else withdrew). But then their luck turned. First they got an invitation to Cup of Russia as substitutes and won the bronze medal there, alongside the tech minimums, and then they got to use these tech minimums at Worlds when Stolbova and Klimov decided not to go. And, of course, by placing in the top 10 at Worlds they got two guaranteed spots at the GP in the coming season. May this good luck stay with them!!!
