Congrats to Matyáš on his bronze medal!

Here's hoping we'll have another strong Czech contender after Tomáš and Michal in the future.

All the best!

Yes, matmuh, I noticed you like him. But you are first and foremost Elizabet uber, so don't neglect that duty! ;)

I was also hoping someone would start a thread for him. He is a delight to watch. I like his brother Jiri, too, but Matyas has that extra something special...he is a natural performer. I hope we'll still get to see him at some B competitions this season.

Well, you never know, a lot can happen between now and then...it's kind of a bummer that his strongest competition is his own brother :drama: and they're both still in juniors...

Just out of curiosity: how do you define a typical slav face? (Genuinely interested, I have lot of czech friends so I'd like to know how to be more stereotypical towards them. You know, the beer and ice hockey jokes do get old pretty fast):slink:

I guess its an eastren european thing ? eastern europeans especially slav can recognize a fellow slav.
softer features, the hair is a giveaway, not so pointed nose , skin isn't super pinkish or spotted unlike germans or brits and smaller eyes "finnish-ugric type eyes".

Didn't Michal Brezina ensured two spots for Czech Rep. at Worlds? Maybe Jiri will be sent to Worlds and Matyas to Junior Worlds?

Can anyone help me? In this form Mátyás ( Mátyásh) is a Hungarian name = Matias. There is Matyáš name originally in Chech language? Or his mother likes this Hungarian name?

I'm curious. :)

I'm not sure about the exact origin of the name but Matyáš has been used in the Czech language for ages and it's been getting very popular recently.
A real Matyáš boom! :)

Thank you. I found it on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthias_Corvinus

Our greatest king Hunyadi Mátyás -Matthias Corvinus in latin language and in Czech Matyáš Korvín was King of Bohemia !!
