Mia spent a week in Belgium, i´m not sure what camp this is. With her on the picture is the Mexican skater Regina Torres, and Mia is doing a side by side triple flip with Belgian Denis Krouglov.

I assume this was very recently.

Late April, Mia was on a gathering with the National team. Together with Linnea Kilsand she made some content on TikTok for the National team. There she said that she and Linnea was injured and therefore had to watch the other skaters do the different test, and they were doing some other light activities instead. This made me a little worried and came out of the blue since she just had been working on ice with Tom Dickson and seemed healthy. So it had me wonder if she injured herself during the week or if it was just something minor that needed a little bit of rest.

Here is the video:

Seems like there was nothing to worry about, if she is already back on ice on camps and doing triple flip it doesn´t seem like something serious :) I assume she isn´t posting up old content, unless it´s from last season (seems unlikely). I don´t see where this could have fitted in her schedule before the weekend in April given that she had time off after Worlds and then worked with Tom Dickson around mid April. So it must have been after.

Not much news about Mia from the Fed, ISU bio or her social media. So no program announcements yet.
Due to the lack of content I have been wondering if she is still is battling some minor injury. She did however appear on pictures from camp in Finland and Peak Ice Camp earlier this summer, so I assumed she was training again, so maybe i´m just overthinking it and she is just concentrating on next season and doesn´t want to share too much.
I noticed that it seemed that Mia wasn´t on the last two weeks of Peak Ice Camp, but her sister was. Usually it seems they do the same camps but i´m not sure if Ella was in Finland so maybe they are doing it a bit different this year.

However there is some quite surprising changes for Mia and Ella. Apparently they are moving from Stavanger as they have changed their club to Asker Kunstløpklubb, the same club as Linnea Kilsand, Pernille With among other skaters belongs to.
I noticed at the Fed page she was listed as a skater for Asker KK. I checked her old clubs webpage and it indeed says that Mia and Ella has changed clubs from Stavanger to Asker during the summer. I found this very surprising as it seems they were thriving in Stavanger and had been living there the whole life.

The new location is 6-7 hours drive away from her old club, so that is why i´m pretty sure they are moving in this process, at least one parent. Since Ella is going as well, I assume it´s a family decision. Since the family are doing everything they can to get them the best skating resources I would think this change is based on that. Asker KK seems like the strongest club in Norway. Mia just finished high school so I wondered if she maybe also moved to start higher education. Asker got a new ice hall next to the old one, Varner Arena. They are sharing it with ice hockey teams but I´m wondering if they perhaps have more ice time now. Since she is now training so close to the capital she will save some travel time and not needing to do transit flights in Norway, so obviously another thing that will help.

The question is if Agnes is going with them. My impression since she trained both Mia and Ella is that she did not have a contract with the old club but contract with the skaters, however Agnes would need to move location as well.

The new club usually send their skaters to Nebelhorn Trophy, explaining why Mia isn´t doing Lombardia Trophy this year, so hopefully already the next few days we will know if she is going to Nebelhorn instead along with her new team mates.

Very excited to see what I assume must be Mias new SP

From the looks of it it seems to be something sassy.

On the new National team photo she got a new pink dress. I thought first R&J but seing this choreo I think perhaps something more upbeat

Edit: Okei, looking at the hashtags, it says rumba and latindance. Maybe she is doing something Mexican?

After watching the clips over again I realize there is two completely different choreo so I it seems she actually got two new programs this season and both of them are in the latin genre. So the video from yesterday must be her LP.

So there is some updates in Mias ISU bio, but not about the programs yet.

However, it seems that Agnes Z is not coaching Mia anymore and that she indeed dit not follow Mia along the club change 😔

It says her new coaches are Hilde Aaby and Berit Steigedal, the coaches at Asker club.
Berit coached Sondre Oddvoll Bøe, coaches Linnea, Pernille etc. She seems like a good coach. A little bit surprised to see that Mia will be coached by Hilde as well, as it seems the skaters at Asker club is either coached by one of them not both. It makes me think maybe the coaching situation is not clear yet, and Hilde and Berit will be her coaches in the meantime while they are figuring out some contracts?

At Worlds it sounded that Agnes Z had a longer contract with Mia, she wrote on IG that their journey together had just begun, and they were working together on new programs in April. Something must have changed or came up this summer... Maybe it was not possible to transfer Agnes to the new club, and Mia had to decide between education and staying at her old club?

Whatever the issues is, I hope Mia is happy and doing well with her new situation. It has been a lot of coaching changes the last couple of seasons, but I hope she can now settle and focus on her goals, which she seems to do. At least Berit Steigedal has been at the club for years, if Agnes only could stay at contract for one more season she would have needed to get a new coach in the Olympic season, so it´s better to change coaches now than later.

The ISU bio also says that Mia is a university student now, which I guess is one of the reasons why they moved and changed clubs.

Looking at the bright side, it means Mia can do the Winter University Games in Torino in January  (If it´s not too close to Euros?)

According to the updated bio, Mias choreographers are now Lorenzo Magri, Tom Dickson and Angelique Abachkina. This pretty much confirms she got two new programs. Her old LP was choreographed by Sondre Oddvoll Bøe. I think Lorenzo choreographed her SP (he did comment on the last video), Tom Dickson her LP and Abachkina polished both programs.

International competition schedule for Mia this fall according to the Feds page:

Nebelhorn Trophy, Oberstdorf, 19.-21.september (Challenger)
Tayside Trophy, Dundee, 12.-13. October
Fire and Ice, Reykjavik, - 25.- 27 October
Tallinn Trophy, Tallinn, 11.-17.Nov (Challenger)

I do think it´s a very good and sensible schedule. I do like that she will do Tayside Trophy and Fire and Ice this year, the latter is new so i´m glad Norway will be there to support Iceland. This could be a good chance to get som ranking points this fall (assuming there will be enough Nations participating for ranking points). I´m also happy she is doing 2 Challengers.

I think last season she had 5 international competitions scheduled the first half of the season but I think this makes sense since Nationals is moved to the beginning of December instead of January.

Not the competition that Mia wanted this weekend, but I also think the score didn´t really match what she did.

Her SP was fun and energetic! She did a solid skate in her SP and landed all her jumps and paid details to all the elements, when she was done I thought it was pretty clean and she would post a score in the 50s and not 41, but the judges went rough on her and gave her a 3T<-3T< and 3F<. I think she was very unlucky with the judges angle, because I did rewatch it a couple of times and for me it looked like only her second toeloop should be called... Also the judges went really rough on all elements and gave -GOE on steps and choreo. They also gave her a really low component score so it seem they did not like this new program at all. For me it was really shocking to see the score.

Jumping wise her FS was a rough one, fall on lutz and flip and even popping her salchows. Hopefully just stamina issues that can be fixed and that it was not a result of low confidence after what the judges marked her in the SP.

Her new FD that Tom Dickson choreographed was beautiful and interesting, it´s very mature and I think as the season progress this is a program that could give her better components once she skates it cleaner.

From now on it can only go upwards. I know the score must be pretty rough after how she ended last season but she is capable of so much more, and i´m sure as the season progress she will meet fairer and better judging that will actually appreciate her programs. I think it´s good that her next two competitions are Tayside Trophy and Fire and Ice on Iceland. Hopefully she can be in the mix for top 5 in those events and get some confidence back 💙
