Nancy Kerrigan is a former U.S. Ladies figure skater. She was born on 13 October 1969 in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
She is a two-time medalist of the Olympic Winter Games (bronze in 1992 and silver in 1994) and the World Championships (bronze in 1991 and silver in 1992). She's also the 1993 U.S. National Figure Skating Champion.
After retiring from competitive skating, she turned professional. She appeared in a few competitions such as Ice Wars, but her main focus were ice shows. She toured with several of them, including Champions on Ice, Grease on Ice, Footloose on Ice and Broadway on Ice.
In 2004 she was inducted in the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame and in 2017 she participated in season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
She had her Olympic costumes designed by Vera Wang and her lifelong coaches were Evy and Mary Scotvold.
Nancy, although a very successful figure skater, is most famous internationally not for her results and achievements, but for her rivalry with a team mate Tonya Harding, and especially for a violent incident during the 1994 U.S. Nationals, when an assailant hired by Tonya's ex-husband attacked her with a police baston. The injury obliged Kerrigan to withdraw from the competition, but she was able to recover in time for the Olympic Games. Tonya was subsequently permanently banned from competitive figure skating and dedicated to boxing and TV shows appearances.
In 2017, I, Tonya, a widely acclaimed and awarded biographical dark comedy was released that depicts Tonya's life and her connection with the 1994 attack.
Nancy Kerrigan is married to Jerry Solomon, her agent and they have three children.
