pain in skates

I’m experiencing pain in my new figure skates (risport royal pro) around my ankle, I can feel the hooks digging into the side of my ankle on only one foot, this hasn’t happened to me before while breaking in skates, is this normal???

* Do you mean that the hooks themselves are literally digging into the side of your ankle, or do you mean some other part of the boot (such as side of the tongue or laces) along the hooks are digging in?

* If you are indeed talking about the hooks themselves, are you talking about the exterior of the hooks (that you wrap your laces around)? Or the interior of the hooks (i.e., the fastening base on the inside of the boot is poking through the lining)?

* On only one side of the ankle (which side?), or both sides?

* Along all 4 rows of hooks, or along only some (which rows?)?

The exterior of the bottom 2 rows of hooks on the left side of my right boot are the ones which are digging into the side of my ankle.

Could you please post a photo? I can't visualize how this scenario is possible.
