Sanding skates soles

When your blades are mounted, do you sand your soles. I've never been a fan of this but I see it being done. It removes the waterproof coating which is why I don't like it bc then you have to waterproof the soles. What's the benefit of sanding, aren't the soles already level? Thanks!

Sometimes they aren't quite level, or the upper might not have been mounted exactly right. I had one sole sanded a little bit by my tech.

Exactly what MCsAngel2 said, it's not really a big deal, they just re-waterproof the soles when the blades are permanently mounted. I've never had a problem when it had to be done.
