…was at the 2004 Marshall’s Cheesefest.

Perfection. 5.9s and 6.0s Not a step out of place. Not a bobble. 6 clean triples and a double Axel. She put it all together and beat Michelle Kwan (2003 world champion), Shizuka Arakawa (2004 world champion, 7 triples,i ncluding a triple-triple) and Irina Slutskaya (2005 world champion). Also Miko Ando, shortly to become the 2007 world champion.
All in all, the cheesefests provided the best skating shows in America in those years. They were often sold out and were popular with TV audiences at a time when ISU competitions and professional shows were on the decline in the U.S.
The men's competition featured Plushenko (he did a quad combo and two triple Axels I think), Joubert, Weir, Lysacek and others, all competing for the $50,000 prize -- the same as they could make by winning Worlds.
